GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) --
Israeli aircraft unleashed a barrage of missiles against targets throughout Gaza City early Wednesday, knocking out power and plunging the city into darkness. No injuries were immediately reported.
Missiles landed in at least three locations, including the impoverished Tufah neighborhood and the Bureij refugee camp, just south of the city.

True to form SFgate mentions not a word about the attacks by the Palis which triggered this.
Heh, you just NOW tripped to that?
Its been well known on FR since before the pullout began.
Why would anybody leash their barrage in the first place?

If I were Israel, I would bomb electrical & water production every day, and to hell with world opinion.

that the IDF would supposedly be "violating" here?
Good point. Don't bite the hand that feeds you as the saying goes. This all falls right in line with what i think Sharon's strategic plan of withdrawal was. When attacks are based from this newly given territory, there will be a disproportionate response that will escalate incrementally. By withdrawing from the Gaza Strip, Sharon has gained legitimacy even in the eyes of the Jew hating governments of western europe.
