It appears Rogers is trying to help Brown by asking the right questions Rogers tried to get Brown to say evacuation didn't start until Bush called.
To: RDTF
Rogers is doing a great job. Brown: Gov's response on Sunday was that she was working on the evac plan and going into a mtg with Nagin.
These guys did not follow their own evac plan. That's it.
To: RDTF
Multiple warnings to Blanco and Nagin, to include personal calls from hurricane experts to evacuate NO....and they sat on their hands until Sunday.
Un-bull-EEVE-able.

I'm watching the hearing now, Brown is making Governor Blanco and Ray Nagin look like incompetent idiots. A dem Congressman is trying his political best to refute Brown, but it's not working. Brown is stating "only the facts" of the record, and the facts clearly show the Governor and the Mayor are mostly to blame.

Breaking news from Tony Snow ... So, instead of so many New Orleans policemen not showing up, it was really a case of there NOT being those numbers on the police force to begin with as the numbers were padded. So the taxpayers were being ripped off and $$ going into politicians pockets.Wow. That is huge.

The trouble with the hearing is that however well Brown does, MSM will pick and broadcast the soundbite that makes him look worst. Actually, just listened to NPR at the top of the hour (yeah, I know but NPR news comes with the classical station I listen to at work). Anyway, they told it straight, reporting Brown's comments that he implored Blanco and Nagin to evacuate. Didn't repeat his dysfuncional comment, but every thing else jives with what is being reported on this thread.

Now they are challenging Fema's response in Mississippi. Democrat Rep. Gene Taylor. "boatload of money, where were the radios?" prepositioning the satellite questions.

17th Street was reported broken at 3 AM and 5 AM by two, independent reputable sources on site. The Industrial Canal breach was reported by the NWS in a flood bulletin at 8:14 AM Monday.

YES! It is like a breath of fresh air listening to NON-polit-speak. The tidbit that only once before had Max Mayfield ever called a state government to warn of impending disaster should speak VOLUMES to anyone who really wants to UNDERSTAND how this all unfolded. We can infer that it's NOT necessary to alert gov't officials when all hell is about to break lose in their own backyard due to a natural disaster.

Brown still has to make a living, so its up to him to defend his own reputation. Sounds like he's doing fine.

Brown is saying they didn't put the satellite phone packages in the way of the storm, but did pre-position people in the affected areas to communicate with FEMA.
They do not have enough satellite phones to cover the area of Great Britain.
Being asked where the phones were pre-positioned and how many satellite phones and other assets.
Brown is listing the assets and where they were.
