Does Congress recognize and honor any other religious observances? If not, CAIR can go urinate into a zephyr. If so, they may have a case.
I guess I need to start a movement to officially recognize Lent, Good Friday and Easter.
Lots of us fast for the 40 day period.
LOL - quite true, Ramadan starts when some Iman or so, stands in a minaret and sees the correct "sign" in the sky - very wierd, but . . .
The Islamic calendar is lunar not solar and can therefore be described as "loony". Every thirty solar years the loony calendar gains one year and Ramadan occurs at the same time. So if it occurs on about October first this year, it will again occur on about October first in 2036.

One time it was a week past it's projected start date due to completely overcast conditions. They said if it kept up the government would put the witnesses in airliners and get them above the clouds so it could start. Questions as to why didn't they just do that the first day never got an answer. It cleared up before they had to do that.

Airliner would have been "controversial" because the Iman (or whatever they call these clowns) would not have been at the correct place - can't have that now can we . . .
BTW - IIRC the END of Ramadan is determined in a similar fashion - what would happen if the witnesses we unable to determine the end due to bad weather (or Karl Rove's Hide the Moon Machine)?
FWIW - Ramadan is silly - it's not really even fasting!! Every night, they can eat all they want - it's just during the day that they must "do without" (other than water IIRC)
How about a rider that Ramadan will be honored once all Muslims allow the observation of Christmas in all countries that they dominate?

Had enough of the Ramadan crap when I worked overseas.
Non Muslims, like Muslims were expected to observe the fast. It was about 130 degrees and we were working outside all that month, couldn't eat, chew gum, smoke or drink water in public. A real pain in the a$$. Of course don't get caught with a bible in uour pocket at any time.

We need to Freep the living hell out of this misbegotten idea! Call your representative and inform him (or her) in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that if he/she votes for this resolution YOU WILL NOT VOTE FOR THAT INDIVIDUAL EVER AGAIN FOR ANY OFFICE AT ALL!
I already called my representative's local office and told him that he will have lost my vote forever if he does vote "yes" on this. I don't expect Dempublicans to vote "no," but the Republicrats can be made to vote down on this IF ENOUGH FREEPERS GET INVOLVED!
Those of us who belong to "Rush 24/7" need to get this to him, as well as to Hannity, O'Reilly and others.
