I re read your response. Please don't bother responding to my challenge because you are too ill informed on the subject.

I didn't hire him but those who knew him thought he could do it. Obviously the Congress thought he could do it because I beleive that they confirmed him unanimously.

During his two years in charge, his organization handled 164 responses at least satisfactorily.

And no one has yet pointed out where he or FEMA failed in Katrina.

Those who insist he screwed up, but refuse to list how or why they FEEL that way, are simply wearing knee pads for the Liberal media and swallowing all that the media gives them.

Bravo! You are exactly right. To buy in to the nonsense that FEMA and the fed have always provided a quick response to any disaster is absurd.

The fed was ahead of the game and had already prepositioned people, equipment and supplies. The idiots in LA are by law (state and federal) the FIRST responders in ANY disaster. It is the state that must give the go ahead by request for the fed to move in and take action.

You didn't see all of these complaints coming from MS or AL when they were hit even harder by katrina than LA. Yeah, that's right, they were harder hit by that storm. Remember? NO "dodged the bullet" and the flooding was a result of their years of neglect of the levees even though they had received federal funding many times along the way to keep them up to date. You didn't see all of these problems in MS and AL because those states are run by responsible people who took prudent action and called in the fed for assistance at the proper time instead of having to "think about it for 24 hours".

Those of you who became swept up in the moment based on frantic no-knowledge reports by Sheppard Smith, and nitwit Rivera as well as the MSM that the fed (whine, moan) was not responding quickly enough are just further fueling the engine of lies perpetrated by the DNC.

Enough of the "its all the feds fault" crap, get your emotional reaction under control and consider the facts.

You've got to be kidding? This is again making the same unqualified person an expert in the wrong field.

He seems to have handled the hurricanes BEFORE Katrina very well. I guess that's because he had a governor to work with that actually had a clue! And a mayor who wasn't STUCK ON STUPID!

He resigned and making it appear he felt responsible for the mess up and now he's rehired before any investigation?

This doesn't look good IMO.

God I hope this isn't true- and I have no problem with Brown one way or another because I don't know enough about his actual or imagined incompetence. I do think it would be politically STUPID. At this point perception IS reality.

Try reading with comprehension.

What he said was that he 'should have' acted quicker in the light of the Mayor's and Governor's incompetence.

When I say that I'm sorry you're stupid, it doesn't mean I'm really apologizing.

Brown didn't admit any errors in how FEMA responded to the storm and it isn't FEMA's role to overcome local and state incompetence.

And I am sorry that....

Might be very pertinent to determine exactly who at FEMA rehired him.

Repeat after me....

Ohwha...

Tafooo....

Liam....

Again, just a little faster.

One more time....Great!

You obviously don't know the difference between worship and standing up against unjust criticism.

The best you can do is find a political statement where Brown faults himself for not overcoming the Louisiana incompetence better.

How about you find some instances of where FEMA had actual mission criteria that they failed to meet?

But then you'd have to actually come up with some facts, wouldn't you?

Geeze, I'm sorry...

>>> I'll let Brown do it himself.<<<

Okay, I read the Fox News article. What exactly did Brown 'fess-up' to? That he 'should have' sought faster help from the Pentagon after Hurricane Katrina hit?

With hindsight anyone can think of a ways to things a little better. But I am unconvinced Brown could have sought coordinated (planned) help from the Pentagon faster that he actually did. According to the following DHS press briefing, Brown had already coordinated with the DOD by Wednesday, August 31.
http://www.dhs.gov/dhspublic/display?content=4773

The more I read the more I am convinced that Brown fell on the sword to silence the out-of-control Main Stream Media enough so the feds could focus on the tasks at hand. Brown had already planned to resign this fall.

>>> This consultant position is just a golden parachute. <<<

juntos, you are sounding more and more like a troll with every post. You joined FR on Sep 10, 2005, and already you are providing cover for the slanderous ways of the MSM.

That said, by hiring Brown for a consultant position FEMA is hiring probably the most experienced organizer of hurricane and storm disaster relief on the planet. Great choice, FEMA!

Because it doesn't matter what he does, to them, every decision is wrong, they try to pressure him to go one way or the other and when he does they have something new to complain about.

Wow, you're really out there.

No one is worshipping Mr. Brown. They are just recognizing that the federal response was there as always, but ran into pure incompetence with the State of Louisiana. He said it in the article, and it's the same mistake we all made. That mistake was assuming that a governor would act in the best interests of her state. She didn't do that. It screwed everybody up, especially her state's citizens.

He is being rehired for a month to go over what went right and wrong during the hurricane.

With all this talk about improving the response and figuring what went wrong you would think the media would be for this let.

Brown will for one month go over the response to Rita, that is not being rehired.

The fault was with Blanco and Nagin but in this politically correct world they get no blame.

Fema is not what the media makes it out to be. It has a staff of 2,600. The media makes it out like they have a staff of 260,000. Fema has to be everywhere after all there staff is so big. Fema is not a first responder but Brown will get all the blame because Blanco is a female democrat and nagin is an african american democrat.

Fema's role is to assist the governor. The governor has the right to veto that request.

Brown was the one who prepositioned the coast guard.

Brown was the one that called bush to tell the mayor to evacuate already.

It was the governor that rejected the salvation army aid, it was the governor that wouldn't allow out of state doctors in, it was the governor that rejected michigan national guard help, it was the governor that rejected brown's request for rapid response firefighters.

Fema has no power, the governors have veto power. Fema is there to hand out money that is there sole purpose.
