OMG! There were MORE than 36,000 people!

That was the stadium crowd!

It looked like a mass human migration.

We avoided the area around the stadium so we wouldn't have to deal with traffic. I didn't see the crowds or pay much attention to the whole thing. There are few public figures I would be less interested in seeing than the Dalai Lama. Everything I've ever heard him say sounds completely vacuous and uninteresting.

Local news coverage of Dalai Lama's visit

Another reason why I can't get that interested or excited about the Dalai Lama is that so many of his American fans are such flakes

Although his religion is Wicca, Wood-Ridge resident Jimi Schultz said he draws on many ideas of Buddhism.

"I love the teaching, the whole essence," Schultz said.

The 31-year-old, who works in public relations, said yesterday was an opportunity to "just be in his presence . . . his vibe."

Yeah dude, the Dalai Lama is so totally spiritual, man. I saw him on this one TV show once and I was like whoa and he so totally blew my mind that I spilled bong water all over my ferret. It was cool though, 'cause I was in frickin' nirvana, man.
