Now if only more stations started dropping hip-hop all would be well.

Considering the sad state of rock music these days, no big loss.

Hasn't this station made a few format changes in the past few years. I think this used to be WLS fm at one time. I'm sorry, the music radio in Chicago sucks and it always has. I bet i can turn on the radio right now and hear More than a Feelin' or some overplayed Nirvana song. Music radio drove me to talk fifteen years ago.

I assume they still have the Loop as a classic rock station? I don't get up their much anymore.

At least it is an English-language switch. In Dallas, format changes these days tend to be from English to Spanish.

"Rock radio has taken yet another hit on the chin ..."
What is rock radio anymore?
It seems to me the Rock music is the Oldies now.
So what is going to be the big change with this station?

If they were smart they would switch to mexican music. When was the last good rock album anyway? Do they even do albums anymore?

If you wait long enough, Classic Rock Format becomes the Oldies Format...
But the children of the 60s don't want to hear that, do they?

The IPOD and like devices is making all music stations an endangered species. Especially with add-on gadgets that let you play them through your car stereo.

Broadcast radio is a dinosaur. Like the recording business, it is a victim of its own indifference to technology and market development. And, like the recording industry, it deserves an ignominious and inevitable end.

I've felt for a long time that rock has lost its way. Both the music and the lyrics today reflect the state of American education and culture. We've "dumbed down" popular music to the point where much of it is unbearable.
You could trace much of the wonderful pop music in the 50's and 60's to gospel, blues and classical roots. Today you can trace pop music to too much television and too little education.
The fact that my 19 year old daughter and 16 year old son listen to "oldies" radio stations says it all...

Just take those old records off the shelf
Ill sit and listen to em by myself
Todays music aln t got the same soul
I like that old time rock n roll
Dont try to take me to a disco
Youll never even get me out on the floor
In ten minutes Ill be late for the door
I like that old time rockn roll
Still like that old time rockn roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock n roll

Had a great radio station here that went to completely 80's music (like I want to re-live that again) with no warning at all, not even to the employees. One day it was there, literally the next it was gone. I had a friend who was out of state at the time and when she crossed back into the border and couldn't get it, called me freaking. All of my friends who loved it prior to no longer listen to it, including myself. For God's sake, how many times can you tolerate A Flock Of Seagulls?
