Convicted of what? Smoking in a federal building? She committed an Article 15-type offense and is going to get hammered because it received media attention.

After the harm that she and her cohorts inflicted on the US (even if it was blown out of proportion) I hope they put her away for life.

I think the military can not afford to adopt differing scales of justice based on how intelligent people are percieved.

Couldn't agree with you more....but the Gen's career is over and she got off without jail time.......I hope the court cuts Lyndie some slack...how she passed her aptitude tests to get in the Army is beyond me.

Ask an MSM "journalist" which they prefer - wearing panties on their head or being beheaded? Given that choice, Abu Ghraib doesn't look so bad.

As an "enlightened" nation supposedly superior to all others, even that is not a choice we should force anyone to make.

Why not just hold them in a civil manner?

This girl is not very bright and was easily led. Hope the court considers that

As long as she is punished according to the offense. Easily LED is NO EXCUSE and I find it hard to believe that it would be even a "MITIGATING" factor.

Wrong time, wrong place --- stupidity with a camera.
Not a jail time offense in a sane world.

....Highly unprofessional conduct. The punishment should have gone all the way up to that female general who was supposed to be in charge. She holds the ultimate fault......

You've got that right - but also the Pentagon should have demanded that the pictures never got published!

I just wonder how many of the good guys got killed, and how many more terrorists got drawn into Iraq because of the prisioner humiliation???

Can you imagine the press getting the ok to releasing photos like that during WWII?? I can't!

If she is guilty then the entire chain of command is guilty.

Guilty of failure to properly train and supervise her.

She was a PFC - when she put the dog collar on Ole Rover Abdulla where was the E-4 above her or the E-5 above him or the E-6 above him or the E-7 above him or the E-8 above him or all of her OFFICERS to tell her to knock it off.

I guess the buck stops with the lowest ranking person they can hang it on.

Most criminals are dumb as bricks. Does that count for a sentence reduction only when you're a white female?

She's a scapegoat to pacify the anti-americans in the media and democrat party. She should be promoted to hostess at Club Gitmo.

I think she has a choice of a dishonorable discharge and one year hard labor or 3 weeks intense training from Martha Stewart. Rumor is she's taking the hard labor/discharge option!

"As long as she is punished according to the offense. Easily LED is NO EXCUSE and I find it hard to believe that it would be even a "MITIGATING" factor."

A low GT score (in other words, being stupid) is a mitigating factor at a courts-martial. The panel can give it as much weight as they want.
