A good discussion of Doe v. Bolton is found at:
DOE v. BOLTON, 410 U.S. 179 (1973) -- http://www.peopleforlife.org/bolton.html
From this discussion and text, it is my opinion that Doe v. Bolton deals with the constitutionality of restrictions on abortion. I may be wrong.
The important case that maybe Doe v. Bolton might be challenged on is:
That is why this is a question thread.
It is my understanding that Doe v. Bolton addressed the question of placing restrictions on abortion.
If that is true, then perhaps Doe v. Bolton is in danger of being overturned when the Parental Consent case goes before the US Supreme Court. This is the State of New Hamphsire versus Planned Parenthood case.
So if Judge Roberts is confirmed, might he write an opinion that Doe v. Bolton was incorrect in removing ALL RESTRICTIONS on abortion -- even the consent of the PARENTS for a minor?
The other case, which may not be part of the October Calendar, is the constitutionality of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban legislation.
I am not sure sure if this case will also come before the US Supreme Court.
This question is very timely. With the vote scheduled on Judge Roberts this week, it is of importance.
Everyone focuses on Roe v. Wade, but gives little consideration of Doe v. Bolton decision.
The short background is that the decision on Doe v. Bolton had to wait on and was dependent on the Roe v. Wade decision. However, the inverse is not true.

I am not an attorney, but the aspects of the question asked by someone in the tragic death of a person who was different because of an abortion may be quite important!
I really don't know. Is this question appropriate given the timing of the vote on Judge Roberts?
I feel this is an aspect of the constitution -- restrictions on abortions. I feel it is current news because of the vote this week on Judge Roberts.
And this is definitely Vanity/Question since I really am not a constitutional lawyer...
Also, this does have a bearing on the Judge Roberts vote.
Though we may not be able to overturn Roe v. Wade, maybe Doe v. Bolton may be overturned... (Hey, I can hope...)
Since Judge Roberts is being voted on this week, and the Parental Consent Law of New Hampshire will come before the US Supreme Court, your question is an important one.
I am not sure when the constitutionality of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban will come before the US Supreme Court...
But maybe we can hope Doe v. Bolton gets overturned -- whatever it actually means...
I really may not understand Doe v. Bolton, and maybe that could be overturned -- shortly...
Question came up repeatedly in the other thread about terminating a pregnancy late in the pregnancy. Does Doe v. Bolton lifting restrictions on abortion apply to this?
I don't know for sure and why. I also don't know how it impacts the vote this week.
We may not get Roe v. Wade overturned, but maybe Doe v. Bolton might be overturned...
topher,Thank you for the ping.
The person basically said that the health of the mother is the trump card the abortion industry plays.
So if the mental health of the mother is at stake, an abortion can be done at any time.
That is what Doe v. Bolton does: lift any restriction on abortion that might affect the health of the mother.
The irony to this is that women/girls are suffering breast cancer, many attempt suicides, turn to alcohol and drugs, and go from relationship to relationship after an abortion.
From what I have read, abortion has to be the most destructive thing in America today. Not only is the baby murdered, but the effects on the mother are horrific.
So that the is irony of the situation, abortion can be done almost any circumstance if there is ANY proof that the pregnancy might affect the health of the mother.
The irony, as I just stated, is that abortion does affect the health of the mother -- in a very negative way.
Some of the testimonies at the Silent No More Awareness website give an indication of what happens (in both the long and short term) for these women/girls that have had an abortion...
For a direct link to the testimonies:
Testimonies of Women who regret their abortion
There are quite a few to read.
There are also commercials and other multi-media available from the women speaking out against abortion...
Note that the Bush Administration (Monday, Sept 26, 2005) is now asking that the Partial Birth Abortion Ban be put on the US Supreme Court list of cases to consider...
