NEW ORLEANS — Even with new floodwaters lapping at the high-water marks set by Katrina less than a month ago, Mayor Ray Nagin pushed a plan to bring people back to storm-ravaged New Orleans soon is possible.

Federal officials said Saturday it will take two to three weeks to pump out floodwaters created by Hurricane Rita. The water poured in through levees that were patched after Hurricane Katrina.

Where is the Stuck on Stupid comment from? I keep hearing about it, but don't know what you are talking about. I've been kind of out of the loop for a couple of weeks.

Section-8, government welfare housing, usually run by slum lords, like those that populate New Orleans and other liberal paradises. The slum lord takes the welfare check, the tenant lives in a dump.

Watch carefully over the next months as the facts float to the surface.

The big problem is the slum dweller can just as easily roost in another city, hence the brave Mayor of New Orleans pleading for his welfare voters to return to the death trap right now. Doubt they come.

My daughter just made a new friend in her 6th grade school. She is from NO. The girl's father returned last week to see the damage done to their house. It turns out the area is dry and there was absolutely no damage done to their house. I am not sure what section of the city it is in but it is in NO proper.

This family has decided to stay in Atlanta for at least the school year. Even though they have no damage, city services will be nil and the area is in shambles.

If these guys don't want to go back I can't imagine why those without electricity, water and hit with damages would want to go back

"What is his hurry? He should have been in that much of a hurry to get the people OUT as he is to have them come back"

...

Very good point. Strange isn't it.

He is inviting young and middle-age folks who don't have children. Is he recruiting an army? Or a forced labor pool?

He wants the yuppies to come back and do their duty- work for others, spend money and generate taxes. Problem is, yuppies generally like to be where things are happening- not ruined, contaminated and deserted cities. It will be interesting to see how many actually do come back this soon.
