(IsraelNN.com) Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal has purchased 5.46 percent of the Fox corporation, according to Gulf Daily News, raising concern that the conservative Fox News may soften its anti-terror stance due to the views of the new shareholder.
Al-Waleed, the nephew of the late Saudi King Fahd, was in the news when he visited the World Trade Center's remains just after the September 11th attacks and offered then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani a $10 million check for relief efforts. Al-Waleed then released a statement blaming US foreign policy and support for Israel for the attacks.
Giuliani returned the prince's check with a statement that, "There is no moral equivalent for this attack. The people who did it lost any right to ask for justification when they slaughtered . . . innocent people ... Not only are those statements wrong, they're part of the problem."
So your premise is that if they drop coverage of missing person/crime cases (primarily Greta's show) that they would be better? I don't see it...even if they never mentioned a missing person again, The Fox News nightly lineup would still be nearly unwatchable on a regular basis.
>Duh...this would be "news" if the Saudi's didn't already own about 5% of every profitable big company in the USA.<
Exactly.
The issue with the liberal MSM is not their liberal ownership but the established liberal culture within their editorship and ranks.
With Ailes at the helm and Hume, Snow, Cavuto, etc at the forefront, FOX is till our best bet.
5.46% would give me control of CBS? NBC? ABC?
Shoot, with the viewership tailspin they've been in for years now, that ought to be only a few thousand bucks.
Anybody wanna chip in and buy some stock?
-
I'm in for 50 bucks. :)
Actually this poster is surprized that hasn't been done yet.
As Fox (sorry to say, too accurately described above) becomes more and more a cable tabloid channel, someone really should.
Seriously - it's probably now or never, to knock back the stranglehold lefties have on the major media in America.
Take a check?...
5% shares
10% shares?
prayers to allah on tues at 7?

Oh, thank you so much for that link! One more story the MSM tries to portray in the most negative light possible and a freeper finds the truth.
Thanks for the research, Dallas. Maybe we should stop stereotyping him and give him the benefit of the doubt.
Sounds like we would have substantially more to fear if George Soros bought 5.4% of Fox than this Saudi prince.
I hope not. They started filming in July for the new season. They write the scripts as they go. I hope this clown gets no voice in it.
Do you think the Saudis are less of a danger than liberals? Especially one with a nasty history like this idiot prince. LOL.
Don'tbelieve FReeper Bert is saying. He is acting as an apologist for Murdoch.
Did you read the Fortune magazine link? I think you're wrong about bert.
He has good business sense, no 5%+ purchase of the NYSlimes I note.
This is good news. Free markets apparently still working. That's good. You would prefer, what, Hillary's government deciding who can and cannot buy shares in Fox? It's not even a broadcast network for crying out loud, so you can't use any argument about "public airwaves."
Very depressing news!
....Do you think the Saudis are less of a danger than liberals?.....
There are Saudi'e and there are Saudi's. The business class Saudis are good friends and strong allies. There is a tendency on Free Republic to bash Saudis by lumping them all together. A similar situation would be to bash the American Super Christians for Clinton's misdeeds with Monica.
When thinking of Capitalist friends and Socialist enemies, the Saudi's would qualify as friends whereas most Europeans would fall into the enemies category even tho the Saudis are Moslem and the Euros are Christian.
Didn't I hear this same story some time ago?
.....Especially one with a nasty history like this idiot prince. LOL......
As one of the most successful businessmen on the planet, the man should be given a little credit by his lessers. A major stock holder in Citibank is no idiot. A man who can come to the rescue of Rupert Murdoch holds some high esteem in the business world.
Rudy's political actions to the contrary, he has a pretty good record.
Great (sarcasm) all we need is for FOX to bow to the ragheads and become another Al Ja'sleeza.
