Lets line 'em up.
Mayor of Houston and Governor of Texas versus Mayor of New Orleans and Governor of Louisiana.
The going-in argument from the left would be that we learned so much from the peril inflicted upon New Orleans, and the leadership in Texas is white, so therefore RITA efforts had to be a success story.
I wouldn't buy it for a minute. I live on the coast of Mississippi and the great untold story from KATRINA is the absolute destruction caused to the coast of MS. All eyes, save those who could watch Shep Smith in MS, were focused on New Orleans. Governor Barbour and local Mayors along the coast worked extremely hard in the aftermath of KATRINA. Unsung heroes among many.
Mayor Nagin called for return of residents against what Vice Admiral Allen thought. Poor choice, but hey he wanted to hear jazz! Think the Mayor of Houston wants to watch the Astros or Texans this weekend in Houston. I think not.
Loved how Sheila Jackson-Lee had to get in front of the cameras after the Mayor of Houston had spoken so she could show her worth to her constinuency. Truly funny to me, because she had no value added in her remarks.
The cry will go up that it was a race issue. The federal response was prepositioned for reaction to RITA. No kidding, they're already on the coast, so it's not hard to redirect efforts.
I'll sit back and watch and read the comparisons, but I know what's coming from the left; they're so predictable!

And your final answer is....
Pictures are worth a thousand words!
Blanco told Geraldo tonight that they ecacuated 1,000,000 people in 48 hours and everything went very smoothly. According to her, no problems whatsoever. When all else fails the Democrats can always depend on the Big Lie and the MSM.
I think she is talking about the RITA evacuation.
Also, the CONTRAFLOW plan in New Orleans worked extremely well for KATRINA. No complaints there. This was a problem in the previous evacuation and the folks at DOTD fixed those problems for this round.
Perhaps you are right. I joined the program just as Geraldo was finishing the question. A million people in southwest Louisiana is lots of folks, though.
