Anti-War Protesters March in Washington

Opponents of the war in Iraq marched Saturday in a clamorous day of protest, song and remembrance of the dead, some showing surprisingly diverse political views even as they spoke with one loud voice in wanting U.S. troops home.

The surging crowd, shouting "Bush out now" and "Peace now," marched in front of the White House and then to the Washington Monument in an 11-hour marathon of dissent.

They were young people with green hair, nuns whose anti-war activism dates to Vietnam, parents mourning their children in uniform lost in Iraq, and uncountable families motivated for the first time to protest.

President Bush himself was out of town, monitoring hurricane recovery efforts from Colorado and Texas. The protesters shouted for his impeachment.

"Bush Lied, Thousands Died," said one sign. "End the Occupation," said another.

Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey, noting that organizers had hoped to draw 100,000 people, said, "I think they probably did

The "postie" lie in the story is the one that went "for the first time" ~ all these people were long-time, die-hard, anti-American Islamofascists and Stalinists.

I just got back and it was definitely more than 1000, but 100,000 seems a bit high as well. I saw the same people over and over again.

I was at the Abortion march a few years ago and this one was MUCH, MUCH smaller.

Are you SURE it wasn't his draft card?

Farrakhan math tutoring in action

Oh, that's easy!

Just multiply by 19 until you get the number you want.

See?

I missed you today. I wanted to introduce my family to you. Maybe tommorow! Thanks for the ride home last night.

This was an example of OUR side

A Wounded Warrior and his son. He stood with us and gave the protesters H*ll!!

Does anyone have another overhead shot of the ellipse with a crowd that we could use as a scale?

I saw you at the very beginning (with your wife and kids). I tried to go over, but was part of the human chain blocking the unwashed masses from infiltrating our peaceful rally.

See you tomorrow!

Speaking of fat ugly white women, I remember seeing antiwar protests in the late 60's (I served in Vietnam 1971-72, sorry for that Kerryism), and man let me tell you there were a whole lot of good looking chicks in those crowds circa 1969. Not like today's protests at all. Maybe this is what those sixties chicks morphed into with the passage of decades spent in The Movement.

But at the time, there was a saying among us few who were pro American and not leftie freaks. We observed,

"You know, a lot of guys joined the revolution just to get laid!"

(Not no more they don't! Yuk!!!!!)

Over 3,000 but not 4. (Basis for estimate: seeing aerial photos of known-quantity brigade and division-sized formations; factoring in differences of density when individuals are "in formation" vs. milling around.) There are hi-tech ways of counting heads from the air; let's see 'em! Bet I'm right.
