I will bump this.
The first 3 I have done in the past....
The last one I won't do, mainly because I am lazy and don't watch/listen to those channels anyway...
At their monthly meetings, our county commissioners and the attending public listen to an invocation by a local minister after which everyone recites the Pledge of Allegiance. We know it is "unconstitutional" and perhaps take extra pleasure in it.
I especially like #4, great ideas all.
>>2. If little Sally is going to have "Condom Day" at school, organize a sick out. It hits the school in their pocket book.<<
Not here.
We have two "count days" and that is how they get their money.
If my child is there for the count day in September and the one in May, the school gets the full 6700.00
However, if the have "Condom Day", pulling your child to homeschool does hit them in the pocketbook. I think that many HS parents do not or cannot (because of states putting them under the microscope if they cause waves) add their moral concerns into the letter withdrawing their children from school. We should.
We have what's called, "diversity day" here at the schools where I live. My kids DO NOT ATTEND that day...it's usually in the spring, and I take my kids fishing. It's become a tradition, never to be broken, so long as I breath the air.
So circulating an anonymous letter that inappropriate indoctrination will result in children being sick on "count day" could be effective.
You insensitive racist SOB.
What'd you catch last year? Were the fish biting?
;-)
What if 25% of the kids didn't attend? Perhaps to attend a workshop on the Constitution.
In the past the Klamath farmers and Jarbridge Shovel Brigade had generally enthusiastic support on the forum.
From what I've heard about "diversity day," it includes skits and plays of "betty's two momy's" and "why did dad leave us for another man" and stuff like that. No thanks, I'd rather have my kids fish. In another year or two, we'll upgrade to the rifle range.
That's a great idea actually. Perhaps this year I'll bring it up to a close circle of parents I know, who give the collective middle finger to "diversity day."
Seriously, the left is much better at using the power of the pocketbook than we are. We don't boycott sponsors or companies that cave into the racial charlatans. This is how they are able to get away with their crap despite the fact they are outnumbered.
While I think it is important to take action to seperate your children from inappropriate indoctrination, I don't think they should be utilized as surogates in the main thrust of political action.
It is better to show up a school boards, city, county and state meetings, in person, and take action where it is you as an adult involved.
I think we are doing better at "events", but we could do much better at everyday resistance. The bottom line is that if kids pray in school, or skip indoctrination courses, there is almost nothing that can be done. The greater our numbers, the more futile their attempts at enforcement will be.
At an early age I made sure my son learned the difference between "education" and "indoctrination" and how to objectively examine and evaluate what he is being told.
So if a whole bunch of kids decided to sick out on both count days, in protest against Condom Day...
Already been done. Don't you remember the Rodeo Drive riot after the OJ Simpson debacle? There wasn't a Gucci bag left in Beverly Hills that day.
You should certainly do these things, but I wouldn't say that its better. When push comes to shove, you have to make a decision to tell your children to go along to get along or standup and be counted. My kids aren't my surogates, they're my responsibility. Not being sheeple is part of what I teach them.
>> So if a whole bunch of kids decided to sick out on both count days, in protest against Condom Day...<<
Only if the parents wrote the school board and told why the children aren't there for count day.
I have two more months of Kindergarten and my daughter is out of the PS jail.
