Well, I'm an animal lover, too, which is what I meant earlier in saying I love wilderness...habitat is essential to the survival of all species, and not just humans.
Most people are "lovers" of wildlife, wilderness and many are conservatives (as I am). The point being that many current day "environmental groups" are doing/accomplishing less than conservatives in the preservation of habitats (and therefore the wildlife that lives on those).
I think there's enough blame to go around for everyone...the worst general trash I see going around is in Hawaii and California, two of the supposed most environmentally friendly states. Trash and general refuse does a lot to reduce quality and quantity of survivable habitat...for all species, including humans.
The other day, Rush was reading an excerpt of a very recent Michael Crichton speech and, to paraphrase, Crichton said that environmentalism is the religion of urban atheists.
I wish I could get the full text of that speech.
Another fellow PeTA member! People eating Tasty Animals!
I think their is a distinction that should be made between conservationists and environmentalists, the latter a political movement, where the first works in the spirit of Teddy Roosevelt. I tend to be very Libertarian regarding our natural world...if you mess it up, then its your responsibility to clean it up. In other words, contain your mess...if I have to touch it or smell it, I won't be pleasant....and don't let me find it on my land, or in the stream that runs through my property. I think that's fair.
I have no doubt political payoffs are made to some companies for their monetary support. However, both democrats and republican politicians put out their greasy paws. Me, I wish we could get the politics out of it....and finally have some honest debates.
Yep like the spotted owl. The envirowhackos decimated the timber industry.
