Agreed. I'm back inside for the rest of the night with the AC on - I just went out to run an errand and the smell struck me.

It was *not* there at ~7:30 when I went outside and took those photographs.

Houston TV now saying that the AP story about the electric pole was inaccurate, because Galvez power company called in and said there was no juice flowing, so it couldn't have started the fire.

They're also trying to track down the rumor that a woman was injured in this fire--and wondering why anyone would've been there.

OK, of the three structures that burned (an hour ago), one was a house, one was that FOE lodge and they are across the street from each other, not next door. Third building unknown at this time.

We lived in Baton Rouge for a short time and as best as I can remember, it is a bayou type smell. We also have family in Beaumont and that whole section of Texas and Louisiana has a different smell. It's a lot like that.
