"Are they covering for someone that we do not know about?"
Yes. But the cover-up is unraveling.
"How can the Pentagon bar a "civilian contractor" from testifying?"
I believe, the main lawyer for the case addressed this in an interview I read. First of all, if he does testify, the Pentagon can claim he revealed classified information. Then he can be prosecuted. In addition, his (Pentagon- related)career would be ruined if he testified against their wishes.
"Are we the public going to allow this??? I have written my senators, and emailed the local papers with questions as to why this is being done....."
Your labors have already borne fruit. There is a new hearing scheduled for October 5. We won this round and was a big one!
"Wouldn't this hurt Klinton more than GW?
That's starting to become a very good question."
Personally, I'm certain, that is the case. but it seems that GW was still trying to sustain the damage, even though it was much smaller than Clinton's.
In addition, G. W. has always, for reasons that escape us all, had nothing but good feelings for Clinton. in this respect, Clinton's statement criticizing G. W.'s invasion of Iraq could've had an effect here. Finally, it seems that GW has realized that Clinton is not his friend and is in fact, his enemy. This could change the way he weights the equation of balancing minor damage to himself, versus major damage to Clinton.
In addition, the people of FR and others around the country built up some heat on this, which may have been a factor. it seems to me that a lot of people are involved, one way or another, with an operation like Able Danger. The longer a situation like this stays on the periphery of the news, the higher the risk that someone else may come forward. In addition, the longer a cover-up goes on, the greater the risk that the details of the cover-up may come out and cause great damage to the administration.
I still say the fact that relatives and friends of those killed in 911 have joined in the fray will make a huge difference . Some of them attended the hearing Weldon was at earlier this week. We need these guys to get into the storm. They will make it rain.
Oh Thank You kind one....I had not heard that....we just need to bury those people in Washington D.C. with emails, until they can't stand it....
We cannot let anything go undected anymore, especially since we still have a clinton, kennedy, and kerry around...
I wonder if we emailed the Govs of N.Y. MASS and let them know we didn't like their people if they would do something about it????? Ya think they would find someone to run against clinton, kerry and kennedy?

You make an excellent point. It appears that they already have made a major difference. My hope is that the dam has finally broken (with the scheduling of the October 5 hearing).
You have to realize, the cover-up can only be sustained by government actions--- each of which carries a risk. It may well be that Bush has decided to let the truth come out. That is the way I feel right now, anyway.

You have passed the stage of cynicism and entered the realm of bitterness. We can't change everything, but we can change some things. However, if you wish to use the difficulties of carrying out effective political action as an excuse for doing nothing, you are free to do so.
Love your tag line...lolol
"Love your tag line...lolol"
Thanks.
1. They(the current adm.) is involved.-Yes
2. They may get spun by the press whether or not they were involved.--True. At this point, it seems that they have at least been involved with a cover-up.
3. It was the Clinton adm. fault all the way but Hillary has the FBI files and is always threatening to use them.--Could be a factor. Based on the 10/5 hearing, it looks like the risks of further cover-up must outwait the files, if they exists in this case.
4. GW covered for Bubba. His father, 41, has great respect for the office of the Presidency(regardless of who holds it) and out of respect for his father GW would not pursue it like so many other things he has not pursed.--Jim Quinn, radio host in S. W. PA and eastern Ohio believes that Bush II goes easy on Clinton because Clinton has dirt on Bush I.
5. Maybe GW has finally had enough of Bubba's backstabbing ways.--this is no doubt true. Bob overplayed his hand big time with his latest attack on GW's invasion of Iraq.
(Nice analysison your part).
Contractors are just as responsible for protecting classified information as military and DoD civilian personnel. If an individual or a company loses a security clearance, they are out of work/business as far as any military contracts. A suggestion from your government security monitor might just as well be an order.
