Checking back in....my thought is that I am SO SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT NEW ORLEANSNEWORLEANSNEWORLEANS that I don't give a big, fat, hairy rat's behind whether or not that cesspit is EVER rebuilt. I already see headlines about how the 'poor' are trapped in Houston, a la New Orleans. When I see Blank-O I have wanted to puke for a couple of weeks. The hype and whining is SICKINING. Refugees of NO, GET JOBS, REBUILD FOR YOURSELVES AND STFU.

As for 'major'....well, I love jazz and cajun food, but can get both OUTSIDE of New Orleans too. Louisiana has more than one bijou, so does East Texas. Those places will survive, unnoticed and therefore ignored by the hysteria-mongering media.

I felt grief for the loss...but am now stopped at anger over the STUPIDITY, LAZINESS AND DEMANDING OF MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE MONEYMONEYMONEYMONEY when New Orleans was neither the worst hit nor the only area devestated by Katrina...but you don't hear the governors of FLORIDA, GEORGIA OR MISSISSIPPI EVERY STINKING DAMNED DAY ON TV, DEMANDING MORE AND MORE AND MORE MONEY FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WHEN IT WAS THEIR OWN CORRUPTION THAT MADE THE MONEY FOR FLOOD CONTROL DISAPPEAR WITHOUT A TRACE, AND THEIR OWN INCOMPETENCE AND LAZINESS THAT CAUSED SO MANY PEOPLE TO REMAIN TRAPPED WHILE THE BUSES INTENDED FOR EMERGENCY EVACUATION LAY, UNMOVED, IN SEVERAL FEET OF WATER.

I'm really tired of the entire state at this point. Rant over.

Great rant, and I support you 100%. I think I went over the edge today after hearing Blanco asking for money and then hearing about Mary Landrieu's obscene request from yesterday.

I will vigorously oppose any rebuilding of New Orleans below sea level. I will also vigorously oppose any levee construction if those boards are allowed to have the money.

In fact, at this point I would support a federal takeover of the entire state. It would be cheaper and maybe we could make Honore the Military Governor of the place.

That is how sick of them I am. (Not the citizens, just their entire political class from BOTH sides.)

I second every word you said in your post #2,264.

Now, according to Rush today, sen. mary landrieu (lower case for low woman) has introduced a bill asking for $250 BILLION to rebuild ALL of NO. She is completely ignoring the fact that we've already pouring big money (no telling how much at this date) plus the billions proposed by President Bush plus all the $$ and contributions and volunteers that have given their services and $$ to this mud hole. Oh, here I go....ranting too.
