Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

I am so sorry that I left that mess for you...you certainly didn't deserve that...

I know what you mean about the rain..but have you noticed that the same weathermen that give us 5 day forecasts everynight...can't seem to tell us tonight whether we are going to get ANY rain this weekend?

I was listening to WBAP a couple hours ago and the weather guy said we MIGHT get rain tomorrow but not Sunday... which makes NO sense...since the hurricane isn't even supposed to hit the shore until the morning, right?

Now, now! It's not "looting" anymore. The Left has decided it's now called "self-help humanitarian aid."

I'll fax you a copy of the latest group-think lexicon.

The hysterical Joe Scarborough just said that "anybody who stayed along the shore at Port Arthur is going to DIE.

I can picture Geraldo reporting live from Heaven, emoting over the gaggle of lawyers and CEOs locked just outside the pearly gates.

"I can't believe it, these people have been on that overpass all day. No one has brought them any water. No one! Is anyone in authority seeing this broadcast? I'm seeing angels crossing that same overpass. Why can't we get them any water?"

The Republican senato (Vittner?) and Bobby Jindall are on my lengthening list of useless people. In my opinion, the entire political class in Louisiana, on both sides of the aisle, are totally corrupt.

In the 1970s, I remember a politician named Puggie Motte (I am not sure of the spelling.)

He got re-elected to office, but they would not let him out of jail to serve his term (as a politician, not his term as prisoner).

But he was re-elected with the knowledge that he was in prison at the time of the election.

You only had to be a Democrat in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s -- to be elected to office.

However, at one time, I lived near former REPUBLICAN Gov Sam Houston Jones. His grandson, who was a couple of years older than me, was a good person -- from what I remember.

So I think Sam Houston Jones might have been a good governor of Louisiana, but I really don't know...

Had one telling me today that Bush's 35% approval rating meant 65% of America supported THEIR ideology!

I try most of the time to ignore them and let them keep believing they carry the country. Lately their insane actions are sending more voters our direction than anything we could ever do!

Earthquake in the Gulf of Mexico being reported by the NWS

Do you have a link? The link I have for earthquakes is slow to report because they go for accuracy...

Geraldo emphasizing how well built and sturdy the infrastructure of the oil rigs is compared to the way the homes in that "poor" town are built on cinder blocks with no foundations.

So what's wrong with houses on built cinder blocks? I grew up in one in Houston. The water has to go a couple feet higher to get in.

I'm amazed he would say something like that............
