Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

Prayers throneward, in Jesus' name, concerning that. I lived through Allen in San Antonio in 1980. I don't even want to think about what's going on in Port Arthure right now. Just because Rita isn't as immanently powerfull, I respect nature in its magnificent fury.

The hysterical Joe Scarborough just said that "anybody who stayed along the shore at Port Arthur is going to DIE.

Anybody that stayed along there will NOT survive this storm.

Can you tell that like cake crumb, I HAVE HAD IT!!

Add me to the list of ranters on the LA situation. Fortunately, Katrina forced me into some research into the history of the outright incompetence, corruption and greed in LA.

It is past time to stop supporting these behaviors. The LA government must be put on a strict budget with total accounting of each and every dime of Federal money that is given to the state. That money is yours and mine. I don't know about you but I am danged tired of sharing my money.

The whining and the 'gimmies'also have to stop. This whole bunch is beginning to sound like a group of five year olds in a Toys Are Us.

In near SW Houston my trees were getting enough wind to scoot me back indoors. I don't need no 800Lb limb on my head.

Since it's usually a reporter that I've heard General Honore level his "YOU, are STUCK ON STUPID", I think that the more marketable bumper strip might be...."Hey, Media YOU ARE STUCK ON STUPID!"

Speaking of Stupid, Geraldo just tossed back to Greta calling her "RITA"

Yeah. Even for him, that was pretty nuts. I don't remember where he was. I just wondered if he had a hangover the next day from all the adrenaline he worked up.

'Tis why I am trying not to stray too far from the objective (of course, when the "objective" comes with subjective analysis from the NHC,...you know the rest :-)

Rita's been busting the theoreticals since before she left the Florida Strait.

The eye should hit landfall at about 1:00 AM Saturday. Houston and Galveston will be to the West of the eye. It appears that landfall will be at Port Arthor.
