Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

We have a strong breeze going over here.
I think that don-o is referring to something that I posted to someone else regarding a phone caller to a talk show here in the Dallas area...
It was a different bus, different people that supposedly died...I was shocked at what I heard...mainly because it seemed so far fetched...but I wanted to see if anyone else on this thread had heard anything like it...
especially since there are quite a few north Texas posters..
THEN, after I posted it...my granddaughter, who I am babysitting decided she needed my attention...like most 6months old babies do...
and I just know am back...to see that don-o had gotten rather upset at my post...
Are you guys getting pounded by Rita?
We have had constant rain and wind gusts. Nothing major though. What about you?
Can you ladies take your spat elsewhere?
<< Publicizing the pics of Nagin's negligence here is working because WE are the majority and would do well never to forget that.>>>
Don't tell that to the LIBS...
Had one telling me today that Bush's 35% approval rating meant 65% of America supported THEIR ideology!
They seem so absolutely desperate for ANY good sign of Anything, and I believe many have lost all touch with reality.....
We're only suppose to get 2 inches of rain. We will most likely have to water the yard tomorrow. (not that I'm complaining)
Again, in my thinking, the only case where they might interact is an underwater earthquake.
I suppose a hurricane could cause a quake if wind and especially water puts enough pressure on the plates.
Anyway, Rita has shifted again. Now they're saying Port Arthur with 1-3am local time being expected landfall.
I totally understand you! When I got my first Belgian female puppy, my small animal vet just about stroked, and was scared to death of this li'l lovable bundle of friendly fur.
I figured out it was time to get a "farm vet". Some people just do not understand the these are happy and affectionate dogs, but just not keen to treat every stranger like a best friend, which is why we want them as our own best friends and protectors.
We moved, by the way, because our "neighbors" thought that anything other than a laid-back do nothing lab was "dangerous". What they didn't quite get, I didn't want to even bother to explain.
You can't have a dog that doesn't disciminate between "friend" and "stranger", and still have a good family loving protection dog. They think in black and white. We have the ability to control them for grey, most of the time. But, when unexpected grey stuff happens, we can't dump on them for not being able to make such fine distinctions...
better safe than sorry, and I didn't wan't to live near people who couldn't think that through, so we moved!
No doubt. They make me physically ill. Which is probably better than psychological illness. You can get over nausea, but you can't regenerate brain cells.
RITA is catacylcismic.....
GRETA will have to take a shower for the first time in years after this!!!!!!
Ok, now we have rain.
I'm off to dinner and to see about blocking the doggy door.
Later.
We are on the eastern side of Fort Bend County. Nothing happening here yet. A few sprinkles earlier but nothing lately.
Now you're talking Texan:')
I mouse hunt.
Rats scare humble. So do spiders.
I did execute a mouse awhile back.
Tough mouse, took three rounds.
;<)
Tell me I didn't hear that the people from the Astrodome are being moved to Cowboy Stadium. That can't be right, could it? Where do they go after that, Mile High Stadium?
Yeah, I know it's probably 75% crap. There are parts of the geology and history of N.O., however, that I didn't know. I'm sure there are better sources for that. Anyway. *wave*
Just lots of wind & very little rain.
The heavy stuff, if it arrives, will be here in about three hours.
You're right. His brother went with him to Afghanistan (where we had the assortment of his hats to fascinate us). I assume he is still with him. Well, I bet Shep's cameraman could write a doozy of a book.
