Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

These newsmen-journalists-reporters like Wolf-so-very-black-Blitzer seem to have a frightening lack of sense..common or otherwise.

He reminds me of an ACTUAL robot.

Welcome to FR; you and you grandmother stay safe!

Hope you still have power. Hope she is well supplied with whatever medications she may be on. Fill every container you can with clean water.

That's what I was thinking too. And that if you need all LEOs to support the contraflow, you can't have much security on the alternate routes, so they close them.

Evacuation is just so disruptive, I don't see how it could be done smoothly from a big city.

From wwwltv.com
3:17 P.M. - KHOU-TV -- There are about 3,000 Galveston residents remaining on the island, including nine on one area prone to flooding who already can't get out due to the water. Those nine aren't in immediate danger, but are just inaccessible because of the water.

3:15 P.M. - KHOU-TV: Most of the residents who stayed wanted to guard their property after seeing post-Katrina looting.

Stay safe.

Thank you!

We're going to get a some rain and wind, but I'm more worried about the coast. We're 250 miles inland, about 12 feet above the lake spillway.

And no cops looting along side of the pukes. No cop cars taken to safe area either or mayors buying homes in safe towns and no wild blame game started by locals.

Amazing what difference there is between the two events and how the regular folks, LEO and govt. officials react.

Yup. Nobody left behind that wants to go. Period.

And no usable buses left to flood in parking lots.
