Jimmy Carter: Gore Beat Bush in 2000
World Net Daily ^ | 09-21-05 | Joe Kovacs

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 23
2005

Five years after the controversial 2000 presidential election, ex-President Jimmy Carter now says he's certain Al Gore defeated George W. Bush.

"Well I would say that in the year 2000, the country failed abysmally in the presidential election process," Carter told a panel Monday at American University in Washington, D.C. "There's no doubt in my mind that Al Gore was elected president."

Those in attendance broke out in applause for that statement.

"[Gore] received the most votes nationwide, and in my opinion, he also received the most votes in Florida," Carter continued. "And the decision was made as you know on a 5-4 vote on a highly partisan basis by the U.S. Supreme Court, so I would say in 2000, there was a failure."

The year 2000 saw the closest presidential election in American history, as Bush won the electoral vote 271-266, despite losing the popular vote to Gore by a half-million votes.

Carter's analysis went on to include last year's matchup between Bush and Democrat Sen. John Kerry, as the election came down to a battle over the electoral votes in Ohio.

"The year 2004 is hard to grade," said Carter. "I don't have any detailed information about what actually went on in Ohio. If Ohio had gone one way or the other, it would have changed the outcome of the election. And the only thing that I know about Ohio, was that there's general consensus that the secretary of state of Ohio, who is responsible for the administration of the election, was highly partisan in his public approach and perhaps even in his private adminstration. But I don't know about that."

Carter's remarks are sparking discussion on messageboards across the Internet, with comments including:

It only took Jimmuh five years to arrive at an incorrect conclusion.

Hmm...this DOES call into question all those OTHER "Elections" that this Ignorant S.O.B. "Validated" around the world...co-incidentally in favor for some VERY natsy thugs IIRC, now doesn't it?!

First of all, jimmah, God wanted GWB to be POTUS or the nationwide dim election fraud and shenanigans would have been successful.

Second, the SCOTUS on a 7-2 vote told the Gore forces they could not cherry pick which counties in FL to recount (they wanted to keep churning the same 4-5 counties hoping to manufacture enough votes for Gore) as this violated the equal protection rights of the other FL counties.

The 5-4 vote said you've recounted and recounted and are now out of time, so the latest results (for GWB) will stand.

You and your msm lackies can spin this through eternity and I expect you will - but those are the facts - there are too many people still alive who could read/understand the US and FL Constitutions pertaining to elections and also the SCOTUS rulings and knew what you were trying to pull.

I know these remarks are preaching to the choir but we have to keep responding or they will be as successful with this revisionist history as they have been with convincing blacks that dims are the civil rights party when it was pubs that passed the civil rights act back in the 60s over the objection of dims like goron's father.

Fascinating. Did he give the numbers? Or is he pulling his opinion out of his rear?

Jimmah Carter - proclaims bogus elections abroad to be aboveboard, while working to undermine confidence in our own electoral system.

Jimmy Carter is just another pathetic example of what abject hate will do. Hate is the only emotion that the RATs recognize. They couldn't be happy if they tried. Carter was also one of the most arrogant men to ever hold the office of President. He knew what was best, and darn it, the people better listen. That got old real quick -- turn your heat down and wear a sweater, turn your lights off, high interest rates, gas lines, Iran hostages -- the American people got sick of being preached to. In spite of his glaring failures, Carter never saw what harm he was doing and never thought he was failing. Both Peanuthead Carter and his NAG HAG wife, ROZ-lyn, never got over the fact that the American people overwhelmingly kicked him out of office. I think Carter was just as much a sociopath as Clinton. JMHO

Sheesh!

. . . just when I think ol' Jimmuh couldn't possibly embarass us Georgians any more, he goes and ups the ante again . . .

< hanging head in shame >

What's more, I VOTED for the S.O.B.! My excuse is that it was my first election, I was a young idiot, and I was just voting for the hometown boy.

Jimmah Cahwatah always acts on the principle of "Pee on their leg and tell them it's rain."

The far leftist former president whose presidency, to be kind, was a complete disaster, continues to have opinions that boggle the mind.

Ugh, don't forget 14% inflation and unemployment zooming into the stratosphere. Old Jimmy Carter was responsible for a new term being added to the lexicon of Economics: Stagflation. Under the assumed, at that time, absolute certainty of Keynesian Economics there was supposed to be a trade off between Unemployment and Inflation (Phillips Curve). You could have low unemployment but high inflation, or low inflation but high unemployment. Jimmy Carter's failed economic policies figured out how to deliver high unemployment and high inflation simultaneously -- the infamous never to be repeated stratospheric "misery index."
After that horrific achievement, the Democrats never referred to the misery index (inflation plus unemployment) again.

It could be, Mr. Carter, the country was spared Gore through devine intervention. I know I prayed for George Bush to win. I know millions of others probably did. The United States is a good country and can be better if people like you lose more elections.

Well, I was only +/- 12 years old. I don't remember all of that. I cared about gas for my motorcycle, and money from my mowing jobs. I got lucky and had a realtor hire me to maintain the lawns of the people who moved out of our nice neighborhood.
