Identity fraud common at work, government audit says
CONGRESS: The report also urges giving more priority to checking employees' legal status.

WASHINGTON - American workplaces are rife with identity fraud and federal officials need to make verifying employees' legal status more of a priority, a congressional audit has found.
The report by the General Accountability Office, Congress' investigative arm, also said a tool that allows employers to immediately verify the immigration status of all hires has the potential to reduce document fraud, but needs to be improved.
Inland Rep. Ken Calvert, who introduced legislation to make the Basic Pilot Program permanent, said he welcomed the report. He also hopes it means his bill, which has been stalled in a House committee, will get a hearing, said Anthony Gostanian, a Calvert spokesman.
"There is a growing consensus in America that we must improve our employee verification system and turn off the job magnet, which is the major cause of illegal immigration," said Calvert, R-Corona. "I would like to see their recommendation implemented by the Department of Homeland Security in order to prepare the Basic Pilot Program for mandatory use."
The Basic Pilot Program allows employers to call a toll-free number to determine whether a potential employee has a valid Social Security number and whether he or she is eligible to work in the United States. The program is currently voluntary.
The GAO report said the program could be overwhelmed if too many employers attempt to use it. It also can't tell whether someone is using another person's documents, but that could change if improved technology, such as biometric data, were available.
All employers and employees are required by law to fill out forms declaring that employees are legally eligible to work.
Congress limits the number of family and work-related visas granted to immigrants. Those who enter the country illegally or overstay their visas do not qualify for Social Security numbers. The shortage of legal documents compared with the number of undocumented immigrants who come to the United States looking for work has created a black market for fake Social Security cards and work permits.
The audit found that the fake documents appear genuine to employers and that it has become more difficult for them to recognize fraud.
Worksite enforcement has competed for scarce resources, according to the GAO. Since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the Department of Homeland Security has focused on removing unauthorized workers from high-risk sites such as nuclear power plants and airports. In addition, the number of notices of intent to fine employers for knowingly hiring illegal workers declined from 417 in fiscal year 1999 to three in fiscal year 2004, the GAO found.

#1 - Go to the water faucet (congress).
#2 - Turn off the water faucet (vote them out of office).
#3 - Arrest and punish those hiring illegal aliens (quite a few of these are the ones with their hands on the faucet) to the full extent of the law.
#4 - Give America back to Americans.

That's four steps...
People actually read my posts?
It's true, my ex boss used to frequently pretend to be a competent manager.
And there are about fifty members of the US Senate that fraudulently claim to be Republicans.
Accountability. That's funny.
Evidently at the White House, too: Bush ran as a national/homeland security Conservative, but that's not what he's acting like.
You missed a few steps...allow me...
#5 - Round up EVERY Illegal Infiltrator by cross-referencing Tax/S.S. withholdings (for the ones using fake S.S id #'s), Hospital records, W.I.C payouts...Welfare payments...SSI and SSDI payments...oh, and Public SKrewell and College records! Also use the DMV for each state cross-referencing type of vehicle vs. SSI/Welfare/W.I.C payments.
#6 - Deport all Illegal Infiltrators discovered...no matter HOW LONG or PRODUCTIVE they have been.
#7 - Confiscate using "Drug Warrior" rationale ALL assets of Illegal Infiltrators...make THEM pay to prove that their assets were acquired LEGALLY (nice trick, since they are Illegal, all proceeds from that act are therefore Illegal gain, never mind SS/Welfare fraud).
#9 - Begin the criminal proceedings against ALL pro-Illegal Infiltrator orgs under RICO statutes...check them for 501(c)3 & 501(c)4 Violations!
There...now we're working smarter...not like the "RINO/OBL(R) frauds dumb-as-a-post" methods!
Not much to confiscate. Most of the cash gets sent back to Mexico via Western Union.

The problem is, there must first be physical immigration enforcers (e.g., deportation officers) in order to physically remove tens of millions of illegal aliens.

How would you like to take 300,000 to 1 odds on immigration reform?
Though North Carolina has an estimated 300,000 illegal immigrants, the state has one federal deportation officer who's among fewer than 10 people in the state who work for Detention and Removal Operations, a unit of ICE.

1st) There ain't a lot of them, compared to Anglo Saxon surnames.
2d) You pretty much get to choose your own. E.G. let's say your Mom is a Gomez and she's married to Mr.Hernandez. She's Sra. Gomez de Hernandez. Or She's Ms. Gomez, or she's Ms. Gomez y Gonzalez (her Mom's name), or Just plain old Mrs. Hernandez.
3rd) In California, any welfare case worker, any DMV agent, any ER staff member can tell you that it is quite possible for the person named above to be carrying ID and entitlement cards in all of those names, to collect welfare in all of those names, and even social security. Big racket in Mexico to collect three four sets of SS.
4th) But wait, Happy, it even gets worse. Americans are now so dumb, that if somebody is named "De Hernandez," the silly nitwits are going to file it under "D." Not noticing that the person is also in the files under Hernandez, of which, given the relative paucity of Hispanic surnames, there will be 28,000!
5th) I don't mean to spread His-PANIC here in regard to the voter rolls. Because no true-blue American would dare to take advantage of this confusion to create new voters where none exist now. No siree, Bob. Not in this country.
Ping on this insight in how the illegals are working the system - at YOUR expense.
#15 - how to game the (illegal alien identity theft) game then game the game . .

It certainly is - especially if you happen to work for Sen. Charles Schumer.
I have been DEMANDING cross-referencing vehicle registration/Licenses with addresses and welfare/SSI-SSDI/W.I.C payments for a LONG time!
You would not BELIEVE the number of Cadillac SUV's are in the names of WELFARE recipients and ILLEGALS!
And that's just in Mass an NH!

This means nothing. If the illegal is using the name that matches the SS# then it comes up as okay.
We should be forcing employers to validate citizenship. We have to make it mandatory, not illegal, to ask if someone is a U.S. citizen or can provide a valid visa. It is now illegal to ask if a prospective employee is an American citizen according to our HR guy at work. It is form of discrimination in the eyes of the gobmint.
