Tell him to check rates at another hotel and move. Before he moves tell the manager he is publicizing the business actions/inactions on Free Republic.
Then call and complain to the Holiday Inn corporate, and fill out a customer satisfaction survey. If he is really pissed off call/web the local better business bureau and complain that he is being discriminated against for his political affiliation, and submit a complaint. It can be done online.
This is 2005, not 1996. Move with your feet. Dont support businesses that pull this BS.

Do they allow GOPUSA Forum, or just left wing forums?

Christian websites advertise netnanny.
I suggest Avoiding Sula contact the company that makes it and give them examples of FR and DU.
Send courtesy copies to the Christian sites and the Hotels owners.
Find some Conservative Friendly media sources to stir the pot.
The Truth don't just hurt. It can slap the snot out of you.

Christian websites advertise netnanny. The proxies get through.

Do they allow GOPUSA Forum, or just left wing forums? GOPUSA is partially blocked (the top frame only). Apparently NetNanny isn't capable of blocking nested frames.
We're unconsciously debugging NetNanny as we type.

Before he moves tell the manager he is publicizing the business actions/inactions on Free Republic. I doubt that management has a clue about this. I'd bet it's some leftist (perhaps gay), network administrator who, in his mind, is having some fun at our expense.
Best to make that a poor career choice.

When I was working at a client site, the client blocked FR.
I googled freerepublic, then clicked on "cache".
I was in. Not sure why....

Go to Google. Click "Language Tools"
Go down to translate page at the bottom, put freerepublic.com in the url box. In the drop down, select the language "Chinese to English" and hit enter.
Once you get to FR, you should be able to log in.

If the hotel caters to the business travelers, I'd say they want the computer used for business purposes so they block sites like this.

Look up Virtual Private Networks Very clever!
If a VPN is too much hassle for him, perhaps some web-based remoting software. It'll be slow, but for reading FR that should not be a big deal.
