Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but last night on CNN (can't stand Fox after Special Report) they had a report about NOPD officers who were looting after Katrina. A hotel owner was interviewed, along with several residents, all of whom stated with total certainty that they had witnessed cops looting. The hotel owner said the cops he saw stayed in his hotel, threatened guests, and made off with a BUSload full of loot. Another group of people, all Black, were residents of an area of homes not flooded, and they ALL said they saw cops breaking down doors and carting stuff out.

The reporter asked the Chief of Police and one of his sub-ordinates about these "allegations"--and their responses were PATHETIC! "People see things and they misunderstand what they see".

Made me SO angry. Aaron Brown made some lame comment after the story--it obviously made him uncomfortable to have to air a story that showed how corrupt the "leadership" of NO is!

Today another NO cop was trying to explain how the cops wound up with 98 new cadilacs. It seems they found they time to "move and secure" them because a ex employee was giving away the keys.

Did you see the Black lady who was talking about seeing policemen going into an apartment building and coming out with boxes of Gatorade and a microwave oven? Pathetic! They did not have any right to do that and they sure did not have an excuse.

I've posted this morning (somewhere in a thread-maybe the Rangel thread) a link that states Algiers was not damaged by the storm. But it was destroyed by looters.
