I resent the "jackboot" reference- these are AMERICANS not Germans.

Do you think I GAF what you think. The term is applicable. Our law enforcemnt in this country is rapidly turning into Jackboots who think they aren't civilians. As to the Coast Gaurd anyone who seizes someone's property over 4 mariuana seeds is a jackboot.

Jackboots didn't round simply take drugs- they killed people. Where did you get the idea that they search boats over 4 MJ seeds? I think we'll agree on the drug law aspect, but the fact is that there are laws and the CG has the task of enforcing them. Have you ever lived outside the US? I have. I spent over 13 years in Europe and can say your comparisons are rather ignorant. The protections afforded us by our constitution are unheard of in Europe. Even the TV police, in Germany, can enter your home to see if you have an unregistered radio or TV! The German government sends TV monitoring teams out to homes that don't pay the TV tax (GEZ Steuer) to investigate if the person really doesn't have a TV or radio. That is unreasonable. Searching a boat at 10:30pm on the California coast isn't. Do you think I GAF what you think. - that is pretty rude. I can see that you would have trouble following simple instructions from a law enforcement officer and then complain when they respond in kind. By the way, military members are NOT civilians. We don't enjoy the same constitutional rights YOU do. We have the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which is quite different. Simply being disrepectful to a boat owner could land a Coastie in the Brig. So, I doubt the validity of this story. I find that posters unable to articulate their thoughts resort to vulgar language, which I don't normally see here in Free Republic. Perhaps you should look for another forum for future discussions.
