"The fundamental goal of the 109th Congress should be to reassert the ideals of limited government and fiscal discipline that the American people elect Republican Congresses to do," Pence said.

A-freakin-men. Too bad we got LBJ in the white house.

What you say makes far too much sense for anyone in Washington to take it seriously. And apparently for some Freepers, too.

So far, the Bush administration has not endorsed any plan to pay for hurricane relief,

Of course not. He doesn't have to pick up the tab. GWB=LBJ

How about this? ALL STINKING POLITICIANS TAKE A 100% PAY CUT for the next FIVE YEARS to help pay...

How about Congress cut their own benefits. A Congressman makes a pretty penny, and then when you add all of the benefits they have in addition to their annual salary, there's a lot that could be cut to fund Katrina relief efforts.

I think they should consider cutting "katrina" finding. Atleast until they know what it is to be spent on.

"heir offset list includes three provisions aimed at military quality-of-life programs..."

Wrong. Health care is a benefit. I did read the post. Maybe YOU didn't.

If this is true, the GOP should go F themselves ten times over.

They are disgraceful, disgusting, deplorable, detestable, and downright awful to ask our servicemen to bear any of the brunt of this while you have illegals, welfare cheats, corporate welfare, ect running rampant.

There are lots of things they could cut, starting with all the funding for illegals. ILLEGALS, people. Think about it. The very people defending this country are being asked to give up a portion of their health care, while the illegals are not being asked to give up anything. They'll still receive good health at NO cost to them.

Honestly, some of these posts here disgust me. If this is what a Republican is, I would drop out. (But I don't think most real Republicans think this way at all--I'm just disappointed at those who do.)

Get those telephone calls and emails going--let the Washington idiots know what we think about their idiotic ideas. Let them cut their "own personal pork" before touching military benefits.

What a "stuck on stupid" idea!

Better idea...cut congresses' pay by 30%.

Wrong. Health care is a benefit. I did read the post. Maybe YOU didn't.

You quoted the summary, not the post. If you read the post, you will see that while changing the health care benfit system, they will be PAYING the military families extra CASH. Take a chill pill and relax.

I agree, all funding for illegals should be cut. Even here in Idaho it is so outrageous.

Not all Republicans are bad, my congressman voted against the big Katrina spending, and I think against spending for illegals too.

Read on. Some are applauding this. The only thing I might agree about are the schools--not really necessary in these times. But health benefits? Shame on them.

Extra cash? Not bloody likely that it will be fair compensation if someone in the family has a catastrophic illness. I've seen too many military families unable to make it on military pay and Tri-Care if someone in the family gets cancer. That's BEFORE they cut the health benefits.

Shame, shame on you.

For what? Not ranting like a lunatic based on an unsourced email?

Unsourced? See the link in #51--the Army Times. I wouldn't call that "unsourced."

1. You were ranting like a lunatic before post 51.

2. There are still no cuts in pay or benefits. For Example: Service members would be offered cash if they are willing to accept reduced health care benefits for their families.

Key words: "offered" and "if willing"

Learn how to read without emotion.
