Hmmm..there was not trough pushing Rita southwards, if there was, it would be pulling it Northwards.
Basically a subtle difference in the orientation of the ridging to the N.
I am not sure Mrs. L,TOWM would appreciate me experimenting with her mini-van in this manner.

I did the same last night but have decided to stay. I might change my mind once we get the 10:00 AM NHC report. If it is still moving east then I definitely will be staying. If it moves back our way then I think we need to make some more decisions.

That's what I've been thinking for hours now...will weaken before that..then steam up. I guess a lot depends now on the water temps- I heard on TWC it's in "cooler" water now..but before landfall it will run back into warmer..I can't keep up.

It's garbage. Some of the media, and a great deal of people, are attempting to wishcast the storm to NOLA.
