Here in south central Texas we are experiencing 100 degree weather...I don't think we have to worry about heating with propane....

They just don't know Texas... like we do.

And your average house has between 3-5 thousand cubic feet of air.

:) let's not bring common sense into this argument :)

What would happen if you used a nuke to blow up/disrupt a hurricane?

I think you would help it. The nuclear weapon is not going to make all the water disappear (except technically the water very close to it). It would heat the water in the hurricane allowing it to rise further. Then the water would precipitate starting a powerful cycle. While I can imagine that a nuclear weapon could disintegrate 'part' of an eyewall, it does nothing to remove the energy source or the moisture, so a new eyewall would rapidly form. The best attack might be if you dropped it significantly above the hurricane to one side to try to disrupt the outflow patterns (since you would be attacking the dryer air). But while nuclear weapons are impressive, I don't think they stack up anywhere near the power of a hurricane. A Hiroshima type blast would hardly be noticed. A 10 MT blast might cause more disruption, and I'd have to check the overpressure ratings for it, but I doubt that it would be effective more than perhaps 100 square miles (of something that is tens of thousands of square miles). I think the best response would be nothing more than causing an eyewall regeneration cycle. Of course, I'm not a meteorologist and I've never used a nuclear weapon (though I do have a very nice .40 cal handgun). I just have a strong knowledge of evaporation, boiling, and condensation from working on nuclear reactors.

Well, you know what they say: "Texas: It's a whole other country."

That out of the way, I think you can count on us showing the world how it *should* be done - and we're doing it with little to no Federal assistance.

It can also cause fake heart attack symptoms. I had severe chest pains several years ago and went to the hospital. The tests showed that my K was very low so they gave me some of that and that fixed the problem for me.

Millions of people use gas ranges using propane, that is a fact. If you didn't know that then that is your problem.

Judge N. on Fox. Texas homeowners can use deadly force by statute. Police have right on to rely on collective force of neighborhoods to police the neighborhood if the police can't do so.

Does any of this have to do with the obscure reference earlier about the tornados in Michigan?

No danger from CO.

When you use ANY kind of gas, there is always a danger of carbon monoxide; that goes for burning charcoal, too.

I have to laugh at the irony every time she appears with Ray Nagin on a podium as they pat each other on the butt.

Two major incompetents.

Way off the hurricane subject, but Laura Miller is a limousine liberal Democrat posing as a country club Republican to get elected mayor of Dallas. I'm glad I don't live in the city of Dallas..what a disgrace..they deserve better.

Diddle E.! What a wonderful, detailed report, which will help all who read it in your area. Thank you.

People always panic a little and worry about gasoline. Even here today, we had some lines and there's no reason for it. I can't quite understand why so many of your gas stations have shut down, unless they're already out of gas.

I am just now getting home and now trying to soak up all the latest news... now they're saying Port Arthur and the LA border, and that NO is taking on water. Can that be right?
