Well, Reagan, was such a relief from Cartier.. that he seemed like a repubican.. but he was no Barry Goldwater.. Yes he was a RINO.. but the times were different.. He was looking at a juggernaut of democrats.. but smoooozzed them into further confusion.. I was giddy when Ronnie won..

Looking at Reagan as the touchstone of what republicans should be is a mistake.. Newt should be/a the model.. not Reagan.. Reagan used up the democrats smoozeablity.. handsomely.. but when its over its over.. Anything less than a 2 x 4 is wasted effort now.. Reagan knew what FDR was.. but used him as ropa'adope.. to democrats egos..

But all in all Reagan bought into some socialism.. like Social Security.. which is pure socialism.. The RINOs of today are not like the RINOs of yesteryear.. Todays RINOs are outright socialists.. not begrudging socialists like in 1980.. So I give Ronnie a pass.. more or less..
