I do basically agree. Though, on this occasion he would have been vindicated when the levee broke.
Bush is too, Keyes also.
In truth, NO really did dodge a bullet on the hurricane.
Now, if they had spent their money on the levee like they were suppose to, they wouldn't have had their SECOND problem.
It's a sad situation, made even worse because the Dems and the MSM have decided to politicize it.
And I'm sick of it, too; hell, we had a hurricane here in NC just last week and we didn't have so much as a WHIMPER from anybody because our governor -- a Democrat, I might add -- used our PAST experiences to get our state ready. (not to mention that the press barely covered it).
And you can believe that not one person in NC was looking for FEMA or George W. Bush to show us as soon as the winds died down.
But the MOST infuriating thing to me is the coverage of Rita; "Rita intensified in the GOM today; now back to our coverage of the complete failure of the United States government in its response to Katrina."
That's "you're."
That has not been proven...
And as for treating him like one of the family... please explain...
No, that is his responsibility if he or FEMA are the ones getting blamed. The media isn't going to help him so it's up to him. It is up to government officials to get their message out, not the media.
Reagan would have talked to the American public and articulated his message. Bush can't or won't do that.
After Bush's speech, even more people believe that the federal government screwed up.
If you know how to read I thanked "HOWLIN" for the timeline. I haven't complained to anyone, I was sticking up for other people who were getting treated like crap just because they were knew to this site by some very sanctimonious people, as I have been, but hey that is just itty bitty gravel bumps in the road of life....carry on
Which makes me glad you are not President...
Because if you can't keep your head because Krauthammer wrote mean things about you in an editorial... I would not want you in a crisis situation when a cool head is all that keeps this country from sliding into a nuclear holocaust... (for example)
LOL! I agree with your post.
No not really...
We must have a presence in Africa. We must confront and try to fight the AIDS that is kiling them...
Why? To keep militant Islam from spreading.
You'll get a good laugh out of this one:

What would a Dem CIC and Senate have done?
btw, You're the guy that badgered me about USC last year. You were wrong.
It's not the President's job to explain to the people how government works, that's the media's job. In a perfect world, the media would be doing it's job, but they're not, they're vested interest is to undermine this administration or any Republican administration in days past. When was the last time you saw the media question the White House when a Democrat occupied it? I can't ever recall a time. The media wants Bush to apologize, because that's what they've been trying to get him to do for everything he's done from the Oval Office for the last 4+ years.
It would be their justification that he's a bungler, unfit for office.
I don't believe that Bush should have "slammed" the local officials but he should have properly articulated the proper role of FEMA and the federal government during and emergency. Katrina isn't going to be the last time something like this is going to happen so the American public needs to understand how things work.
Bush has been elected President twice so he should be able to articulate his position in a way that doesn't seem like mudslinging or passing the buck. It's not easy to do, but anyone savvy enough to win two national elections with good advisers and top notch speech writers should be able to craft such a message.
I didn't badger you and what have I been wrong about? The season is only two games old.
I posted the timeline. Howlin posted the article.
Dean Reynolds of ABC News couldn't find a single person in Houston who thought the federal government "screwed up". Push polls are for handwringing FR pinheads, looking for a reason to bash this President.
Respectfully, it's not the media's job. It is the responsibility of each American citizen to learn how the government works. The media can be a source of information, but it's still the responsibility of each citizen.
That being said, it is up to the President to get his message out. If a wrong message is getting out, it is up to him to go front and center to correct it.
Reagan had to deal with a hostile media and he found a way to do it. I believe that Bush is capable of doing it but for some reason just won't.
Really hilarious. I didn't know Jonah could be so funny!
Oh, FGS, when would he have done that? The talking heads STILL haven't stopped frothing at the mouth long enough for anybody to get a word in edgewise.
Frankly, I'm sick of the damn blame game; this was the biggest natural diaster this country has ever faced. You people with The Instant Gratification Syndrome need to realize things TAKE TIME.
And it is most assuredly NOT George W. Bush's fault that a bunch of people in New Orleans didn't have the sense God gave a gnat and couldn't MAINTAIN for THREE DAMN DAYS.
Frankly, I'm surprised you're bashing Bush and not demanding that people at least TRY to give the appearance of being able to cope for a couple of hours without raping, pillaging, or murder.
Blame him all you want; you're just helping the Democrats elect the next president.
Then you'll REALLY have something to carp about.
