Breaking: Jet Blue emergency landing, Long Beach, CA (UPDATE: Plane Landed Safely)
KABC Channel 7, live broadcast
Posted on 09/21/2005 4:21:43 PM PDT by kingu
A Jet Blue aircraft just did a low altitude flyby of Long Beach airport after reporting some concern with their forward gear. The television helicopter caught an image of it - the gear is turned sideways and tilted.
Aircraft is heading out towards the ocean to drop fuel, will turn around, and attempt a 'soft field' landing, keeping the nose up as long as possible.

Hopefully the ground crew won't have any duties other than to ensure the plane isn't on fire and get the people off unharmed. Fingers crossed here!

MSNBC hasn't broke for a commerical once. By now FoxNews would have blared that annoying Sandals commerical 3 times. I know. That's exactly why I'm watching MSNBC. I saw it breaking on my local TV station in Albuquerque so I flipped it over to FOX and it wasn't showing. I surfed a couple of channels to MSNBC and they were showing it. I flipped back to FOX about 4 times just checking and O'Reilly was interviewing Donald Trump. Needless to say they weren't even showing it. They are pretty worthless anymore. There are only a couple of their programs that I will watch now.

He and his crew did an incredible job. If you look at the tape of that crash, you cannot beleive anyone survived, let alone most.

I'm sure they're schooling the passengers --- what to do and which rows to go to -- I always TRY to sit in one of the emergency exit rows (long legs) and after this, I think I will be CERTAIN to sit there every time.

Bush's fault. He doesn't care about nose gear.

I hope I could keep my cool. One really never knows until the situation presents itself. The flight crew plays a big part in passenger management, for sure.
