A Jet Blue aircraft just did a low altitude flyby of Long Beach airport after reporting some concern with their forward gear. The television helicopter caught an image of it - the gear is turned sideways and tilted.
Aircraft is heading out towards the ocean to drop fuel, will turn around, and attempt a 'soft field' landing, keeping the nose up as long as possible.
Phil Donohue.... wow....
They need Karl Rove to crank up the head winds out of the west for the 25L landing.
L25?
I thought he quit smoking.
Have been chain smoking for the last 30 minutes.
runway L25
This is our preferred airline to CA to visit our son and daughter-in-law in San Clemente. Prayers for all on board.
The news just said the southern runway, that is literally 400 yards from my window...I don't see the firetrucks...I think the news is wrong.
Crazy...everyone in our building is pressing against the windows looking at this.
By the way, these people on the plane are watching Directv because it's in the plane...they know what is going on.
This is all Bush's fault, too.
FOX did not indicate how the nosewheel came to be locked in a turning position.
I have been looking at the FOX broadcast and their close-ups do not show any whisps of vapour that would be visible in a in-flight fuel dump. Also, the info from Long Beach tower indicates that the A340 was not dumping fuel.
You have got to be kidding! What in the world for? UGH!
Now 5:38. As usual, MSNBC is wrong.
I bet some of the passengers wish they could light up!
Chris Matthrews doesn't even do Hardball live his show comes on at 5 p.m in Washington d.c and 7 p.m in all other markets.
Wouldn't want to mess up with his dinner reservations.
Keep us posted!
after election seasons are over, I go to the history channel, or discovery (or something along those lines) after brit hume ends.
(hairofthedog is a chick?!)
Local radio (KFWB 980) says this plane can't dump fuel, they are just flying around Catalina, etc., burning up fuel.
Im shocked that I just perused the DU and they ARENT blaming it on Bush!
There remains a lot of confusion as to whether the aircraft was dumping fuel.
