A Jet Blue aircraft just did a low altitude flyby of Long Beach airport after reporting some concern with their forward gear. The television helicopter caught an image of it - the gear is turned sideways and tilted.
Aircraft is heading out towards the ocean to drop fuel, will turn around, and attempt a 'soft field' landing, keeping the nose up as long as possible.
Flight 292 as per Shepard Smith.
Wow, I'm watching on ABC, Channel 7 Los Angeles. It's down. It looks like it is straight down, but it has been turned 45 degrees so that the two front wheels are parallel with the wings.
Front gear twisted off access...
Amen
Only thing is the lakebed is a bit muddy from yesterday's rain.... I know, I work there... : (
Front gear twisted off AXIS...
An Airbus.
fox and PMSNBC all have same feed . . .
Very bad situation if they can't get the gear up, with the wheels at a 90 degree angle, the whole fron assembly is going to shear off upon touch down. No telling what that big strut assy will due to the undercarriage, or rear wheel assy if it hits them.
A320
should be a lot of sparks shortly,, the nosegear will probably break off, is my suspicion
That's a big plane
the dumped fuel and they are attemping a soft landing
Shep has said a lot contradicting what other stations were saying and minus a lot of details confirmed already by others...MSNBC amazingly seems to be doing better as they have an LA connected person who actually knows the airports and Jet Blue...FYI for anyone who wants to channel hop between them!
If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going....
I flew Jet Blue out of Atlanta a couple of years ago when they still had service there and had a stopover in Long Beach at a small airport before flying on to Vegas. They had flights leaving from there to NY also. Maybe they changed from Long Beach to Burbank. But the thought that it could be the plane I flew on is scary. And just when I'm not at all nervous about flying...well, maybe I am now...lol
How many people are on board?
FoxNews showing it now.
