Regarding the man made hurricane thing, I believe the theory isn't that a hurricane can be intensified and "driven" to a specific place, but that the conditions off the coast of africa can be manipulated to mimic the BEGINNING of a Hurricane (sort of like the butterfly effect)....its not that they could build them up and guide them. In theory, if it were true, a bunch could be created creating more chances for hurricanes to form....sort of like firing a bunch of rounds at a car and hoping you hit the gas tank.

Crazy? Maybe, but when a scientist on the radio explained it, it sounded a lot more plausible than I care to actually admit! I've forgotten the guys name, but there is some meterologist/weatherman somewhere that claims the beginnings of many of the hurricanes when they are tiny don't look like "normal" hurricanes...the geometric shapes are too perfect.

Again, I have no idea what to make of it one way or the other, but it wouldn't surprise me....supposedly the tech came from submarines equiped with tech enabling monitoring of nuke programs in the 1970s, that many govts starting working on it, but gave up........except the USSR..and that its plausible its on the black market.

It would make for a good movie, regardless!

It was weatherman who said it would hit as cat3 or cat4, That the cat5 intensity is transitory. Lets sure hope so.

We'll see how much better Texas prepares/responds than LA.

This will just be used by the left to say that Bush helped his buddies in Texas, and ignored those in LA. Mark my words, it will happen.

200 BILLION to rebuild that cesspool

Just to be factual, it is 200 billion for the whole Gulf Coast not just NO and that has not yet passed Congress. See what Congressman Mike Pence is up to? There is political fight to be fought here yet.

You don't want to come here. We have harsh winters, hot summers, high taxes and Hillary.

So I am guesstimating around 180mph winds at land fall.

Based upon what?

Let's try to avoid irresponsible WAGs.

HIGH FREQUENCY ACTIVE AURORAL RESEARCH PROGRAM

How would an instrument made to study auroras produce power?

By the way, $10,000,000 isn't enough money to wax the floors in the Pentagon, let alone make weather modification technology. I think probably most of this money is meant for grants to study cloud seeding in the Midwest.

Andrew was definitely a Cat 5. At the time they said Cat 4, but they changed it afterwards.

I lived near the Nat'l Hurricane Center, which is in Coral Gables, which was about 15 miles north of the eye wall and they recorded gusts up to 184.

The scene was surreal after he blew through.

Could be bye bye for NO.

Did they ever try to rebuild Babel? "So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth [Katrina + Rita version: United States], and they stopped [re] building the city." Genesis 11:8

Time for the Christian church to step up, person by person: "Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm." (Isaiah 32:2).

Silverwoman1 rebuked that last storm and it veered off N'awlins, for was direct hit a'comin'. She was sad, but reminded her ya gotta head 'em off--for that storm had to go somewhere :
