WASHINGTON Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter said Wednesday he wants answers from the Defense Department about Able Danger, a secret military unit that is said to have identified four of the Sept. 11 hijackers more than a year before the terrorist attacks.
Pentagon officials blocked five key witnesses from testifying in the Able Danger hearings on Capitol Hill Wednesday, citing security concerns.
"I think the Department of Defense owes the American people an explanation about what went on here," Specter said. "The American people are entitled to some answers."

I'm no fan of Specter, but I give him credit for this strategy. You see, if it IS a Posse C. violation, then someone should be up the creek without a paddle.
If the information is NOT about citizens, {not Posse C.}, then there should be no excuse for destroying records.
And thank you for providing notes.
I heard that this idiot was a Democrat for years and only ran as a Republican because that was the only way he thought he could win, so.......viola, we have a RINO.
The Republican chairman of the Senate judiciary committee accused the Pentagon on Wednesday of stonewalling an inquiry into claims that the U.S. military identified four September 11 hijackers more than a year before the 2001 attacks.
"That looks to me like it may be obstruction of the committee's activities, something we will have to determine," said the panel's chairman, Sen. Arlen Specter.
Cool. I recorded it on the DVR, but I've only watched the first 2 hours so far. Looks like it gets juicy when Dugan testifies.
This was before the election. How can W be responsible for it?
Well, I will not make a judgment on what these guys have come up with, but I do know that Biden, Specter and Weldon are all cut from the same pattern. Specter and Weldon are a couple of RINOs.
No, it was most definitely not illegal. That was made abundantly clear in the hearing today.
There were two sets of input data. One was purely public domain, readily available info purchased from a private corporation.
The other set was a combination of that info and classified info. That data was only handled by intel people, whereas the other set (pubic info only) was handled by both intel people and private contractors.
Data mining itself is not illegal. The debate today largely centered around the relationship of data mining to Posse Comitatus, and there was no testimony brought forth that suggested a violation of law.
There is NO mystery here...the MSM will protect Bill Clinton/democrats till they draw their last breath.
"Maybe Sean Hannity would cover it on his TV show."
Not, apparently the jetblue landing is MORE IMPORTANT, now maybe if it was BREAKING NEWS about some girl in Aruba, or that Scott Perterson chick.... then maybe
"Not, apparently the jetblue landing is MORE IMPORTANT"
Oh well, he had Weldon on the radio show today. I'm inclined to cut him a break.
bttt!!!
The pubbies do try, but with the MSM getting Democratic talking points daily, they are hard to hear: they are out there, just very hard to hear with the over-talking and over-shouting they get.
This smells. It appears to me that there is a concerted effort by Dems and Repubs to cover someone's ass here. Somebody BIG like a former President named Clinton.
"Oh well, he had Weldon on the radio show today. I'm inclined to cut him a break."
I heard it, he was "acting" pretty concerned about AD but I got the feeling he was keeping his "foot in the door" just incase this story takes root... I did not feel hannity was behind the AD story like FR is. He's a fake.
by the way I listen 3 hours a day and watch HC most nights.

Thanks again, YaYa.

Speculation on my part but by blocking public testimony he guarantees the media will be jumping on this story.
The media may actually do their job and start asking some questions.
