I wonder why it goes over the talking heads that it was the pre-planning that enabled Houston to take in NO refugees in short-order!!!

Meanwhile, here we sit waiting to be mauled by Mother Nature and all our resources went to NO. For 3 weeks there hasn't even been a generator in town! Our city gov't had to go 100 miles yesterday to get one to keep our water pumping--if needed. Our hotels were already full and our churches are still feeding --two meals per day--people from NO.

This morning they are saying we could have 125 MPH winds for 10 hours.

I have a bed-ridden mother with Alzheimer's. It's too late to leave. I'm scared!

And frankly, I think it would be better if this thing went in to NO because it would be better than destroying what's still standing.

lonestar,

You are in our prayers here (Maryland). Wish we could come on down and help out.

We have family, friends near Galveston, Corpus and Port Arthur, all on the road now. I was raised in South Texas, so I know the score. All I can say now is that if our good thoughts and our very sincere prayers are any comfort, take some there. Stay in touch.

I am so sorry! Wish there was something the rest of us could do to help you right now!
