If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
Willie, they have set up shelters all up and down the I-35 corridor, from San Antonio to Ft. Worth. If you can pick up AM 1200 WOAI (will be able to do so after dark) out of San Antonio, Tuesday they were giving info on shelters, and not just those in San Antonio. If you don't hear such on the radio, ask directions to the local police station when you get to the I-35 towns, and they get or direct you to shelter info.
I am in Austin. Keepin' an eye on it as is everyone one else.
Getting a kick on on the model tracks thare are out there.
One, the BAM one, keeps it on a path to slice through the center of the state.

Tell Jaded hi for me, she gave me her cell number but I am having hard time getting any calls to go through to any cell phones since yesterday. We're staying put here. Will check in after the storm when I have power!
SIGNING IN - Magnolia area, surrounded by huge old forest trees ALL around our house.
My daughter and I are trying to leave to go north (she's in Copperfield), but traffic is in gridlock. May just stay here and ride it out, but will leave soon after if the electricity goes out. Our main fear is a couple of trees going down. We expect NO electricity, NO phone for at least a week. (Power/phone lines on poles in woods.)
Relatives waiting for us in Tyler and Dallas, but can't get out yet.
Carol Ann, thanks for the link! I'm busily bolting down last minute stuff and hadn't seen the thread!
Diddly: Thanks for the info!
My Dad drove in to Columbus, because it turns out (I didn't know this earlier) they only have about $90 on them, problems with their last retirement check or whatever (they live check to check with nothing extra), and my sister sent them money Western Union. Well, the store in Columbus was already closed, so no money from Western Union. But my Dad reports that I-10 in Columbus is a parking lot, barely moving. Highway 90 (about 15 miles south of I-10) is moving slowly, and is also bumper to bumper. They will be heading west on Highway 90, hoping to head north on 77, but I'm betting anything it's already a parking lot.
My Dad said "If 77 isn't moving, we'll probably just come back home and stay at the shelter (Rice High School)." I told him not to do that because -- what are they going to do after the storm passes? No power for a week, flooded roads -- then they'll never get out. So hopefully they can get far enough north and west in short enough time to catch something eastbound towards Texarkana. If they can get that far, they should be fine the rest of the way here to Tennessee.
My brother, on the other hand is hard-headed, and will be staying. He lives near Highway 59 at West Bellfort in southwest Houston. He couldn't get out now, anyway, so he doesn't have a choice at this point. But he probably would have stayed anyway (he's just stubborn like that). He also lives in a bad neighborhood, has had a few burglaries, and was concerned about looting (even pre-storm looting) if he left.
A whole lot of folks are in need of a whole lot of prayer right now. Thanks.
Mail....
I hope your right! We moved to Houston from Beaumont 5 years ago. Beaumont has a similar doomsday situation to New Orleans. If Rita heads up the mouth of the Sabine, most of Beaumont could be flooded. Speaking of Cajuns, we cooked a big pot of Gumbo last night. We will be eating well until we lose power. Don't think Gumbo tastes very good cold.
FYI Sink,
Our two dogs will be in our closet with their "daddy" and maybe "mom" as well if the traffic won't allow me to leave! ;-)
If I can get out of Magnolia, we're headed to Tyler. Son in Carthage. Small world, eh?
I am going to the house of some friends, who called me last night, talked me out of my plan to leave this morning, and invited me to stay with them.
The latest storm track is beginning to look less terrible than it did yesterday, but I don't think anyone is taking any chances.
Good time for you to visit San Diego? :-)
Good luck!
We've decided we're gonna stay. Watching pretty closely, but staying.
You all are beginning to worry me!!!
Are you sure??
"I have a bed-ridden mother with Alzheimer's. It's too late to leave. I'm scared!"
I am so sorry! Wish there was something the rest of us could do to help you right now!
My two brothers are coming from Lake Charles to stay with us.
I just spoke with the law in this town, and they are worried about all the flooding and high winds we are going to get.
Our home is surrounded by huge trees. I'm starting to get a little tense.
Those of you staying with your animals are doing God's work for these little beasts. They rely on you for their protection, and bless you for not leaving them alone in a storm like this.
So where are you in LA? I don't think Toledo Bend is far enough north for my in-laws. My F-I-L is up there too, in his camp, with his wife and their Papillon, Bitsy. Mobile homes don't do well in straight-line winds.
We're in Leesville. Toledo Bend is about 30+ miles or so from us. We always go camping on the Texas side. They're lowering the lakes here. Vernon Lake and Anacoco lake for all the rain expected.
We've decided to shelter in place. I'm not about to try the freeway. Plenty of water and canned and dry(for now) goods. Filled up a couple portable gas tanks for the generator.
