If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
I'm still staying in place in my 2-1/2 floor leeward-side apartment about 100 ft South of Clear Creek. My girlfriend's ill mother (in Clear Lake - 1 mi. North of Clear Lake) won't leave, and I'd be a real heal to bug out and leave them behind.
If she wises up that a storm surge will wash them out, I'll be heading out with them (they need someone to drive a second car to evacuate their numerous pets. (/frustration)
West Houston. Roughly I-10 & the Beltway 8. My family and I will be staying, but making the necessary provisions.
Protect those Blue Bell cows. It would be a national calamity if we couldn't get our Blue Bell Pralines-n-Cream.
Signing in.
All vehicles fueled, water stored, food packed, guns loaded and dogs shaved.
People are using cheap panelling as a substitute which has no chance of success.
There really isn't a safe room in the house. Even the bathrooms have windows. We will be lucky if we get power restored in a week assuming the roof stays on, so it may be quite awhile before I check back in.
Stay safe, everyone.
I thought those things kept on going. They were their own weathermaker.
I can't imagine a high pressure system strong enough to push this baby around.
I figure I'm the Captain of Houston so I'm going down with the ship.
We plan for my wife to take her ailing mother to Austin (she lives with us) and the dog and me will ride it out here in Victoria, Texas. The oldtimers who were here for Carla in 1961 are staying for the most part. But no final decision until Thursday AM. Right now I'm finding too many strike maps with Port O'Connor, Port Lavaca and Rockport as landfall. That's a little close for comfort. See ya' on the other side of this.
If S.A. gets hit, our son lives there.
You're at ground zero. You really should evacuate somewhere. I've got room up here, if you reconsider. And my dogs would love to meet your dog.
Got ice??
:o)
I'm staying and my 22 year old son insists he is staying with me, so I may have to drug him and load him in the car. I have everything I will need for about ten days, other than power. If the roof goes, well it has been nice knowing y'all.
Good luck all y'all.........
Thanks, sinkspur. Freepers are the greatest.
Any one with pets in or around Rita's path please read this post on the Update: Category 4 Hurricane Rita - Live Thread, Part II
Not yet, but I've broken out the big hunting cooler and will be
emptying out the ice machine here at work on Friday afternoon.
It's bad form to drink hot beer during a hurricane.
I know - I about fell over when I heard him say this!! There is a big bubble up there but ..sheesh! We live right on the edge of the 100 yr flood plot, about 3 street up from a creek that become a raging torrent with in medium to high rain fall ~
I have friends in Pasadena...how bad do you think it will be there?
Take care
