If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
Mr. Hobson is being stubborn. I'm packing stuff and will be doing my best to talk some sense into him. His sister from Florida is backing me up. I just spoke to him and he said we would talk about it later. grrrrrrrrrrr!
Bellstar and Gulfbreeze are Galveston County FReepers. Bellstar is holing up in Pearland, but I haven't heard what Gulfbreeze is doing.
Have his sister cry on the phone. Hey, it worked on WhyisaTexasgirlinPA.
Hey pup,
go find a good stout community building, hospital to volunteer at or some other heavily built structure prior to its arrival....it will take your mind off the house.
Final destination is Baton Rouge. I'm not that familiar with the Beltway, and I know it will be crowded to the south with all of the people from Galveston, however, I was told that there aren't as many lanes on the northern route, and also, it will be full of cars trying to get to 45.
Texians are renowned for their sophisticated tastes... /(grinnin', duckin' & runnin')
Checking in from Chambers Co., Texas. (about 40 miles East of Houston.) If it goes to Corpus, I'm staying. If it goes to Matagorda or closer to Freeport, I'm outta here. Will stay with friends in Baton Rouge (of all places) or with B.I.L. in Beaumont.
We are here in College Station.
Currently, we are planning on riding this thing out.
Are you staying? We need to keep in touch.
Stay safe!!
Think about it some more, please.
Y'all stay safe. What are your plans? I just got onto this thread so I havent scanned it yet.
No, it's an open flow design with large windows everywhere. There is a small closet on an exterior wall with no windows, though. That might be my best bet.
The other alternative would be to make a late decision to try to make it to my wife's hospital. The interior visitor restrooms should be safe, but that would mean leaving my pets to fend for themselves here at home.
I live in Palestine and I'm worried about the high winds and flooding. I've got a tree surgeon on the way to do some tree trimming and other work, long overdue. I was wondering about Longview myself just up there last Sunday. We need the rain but not like this. They say that the extended drouth we have been in makes the trees more suseptible to toppling over with the sandy soil we have down here. I was told that Sutherland's was having emergency generators jumping off the shelves last night.
I think this one is going to be very bad.
Tape up your windows, at least it will keep it from shattering all over you. We'll be praying for you Dog Gone!
Has anyone considered starting a thread for FReepers offering housing for evacuees and/or their pets?
Our plans arent set in stone. We have an option B, if things start to appear to spiral outta control we can travel to my Dad's in Burnet County.
We're staying put. Husband thinks the house can take the winds.
We have plenty of water, fuel and food. I just hope we don't get tornadoes, my main concern.
NBC news has been great. Been on all day covering everything we need to know.
Good luck!
