Bush 41: I Still Like Clinton
NewsMax ^ | 9/19/05 | NewsMax

Thirty-six hours after ex-president Bill Clinton bashed and trashed his son on everything from his handling of the Hurricane Katrina crisis to the Iraq war, former president George H.W. Bush says he still likes Clinton.

Appearing during commercial breaks on ABC's "Monday Night Football," the president's father was asked how he and Clinton managed to get along.

"I like him," Bush 41 said, despite the verbal thrashing Clinton administered to his son on ABC's "This Week" the day before.

Given two more opportunities to comment on his relationship with Clinton, Bush Sr. declined to say a single negative word about his successor.

Mr. Clinton, on the other hand, demonstrated no such graciousness when asked on Sunday about the Bush administration's response to Hurricane Katrina.

"You can't have an emergency plan that works if it only affects middle class people and up," Clinton told ABC's "This Week."

He said the allegedly slow federal response disproportionately affected African Americans and was caused by the Bush tax cuts.

"This is a matter of public policy," Clinton told his former communications director, George Stephanopoulos. "And whether it's race-based or not, if you give your tax cuts to the rich and hope everything works out all right, poverty goes up and it disproportionately affects black and brown people."

"I just don't know what it is. the Bushes rehabilitated this man, why?"

For the same reason they've never laid a glove on Bubba and Hitlery's litany of illegal excesses and presidential malpractice:

The fix was/is in, and deals were made that benefited BOTH the Clintons and Bushes and...the NWO.

The argument that the Bushes have "too much class" is getting old and it was lame from the beginning. "Too much class" to prosecute the criminal duo? "Too much class" to speak the truth about the trashing of people's White House by the departing "progressives"? You need a new talking point!

This pandering to the Bill Clinton by the entire Bush family makes me wonder if the Mena, Arkansas drug smuggling stories are true.

"Most of you armchair macho men aren't aren't up to GHW Bush's belt buckle when it comes to courage."

Perhaps once upon a time, but...

GHB had long since relinquished the trait of "courage" when for reasons unbeknownst to the rest of us purposely and clearly greased his own skids as he ran a sham '92 Presidential campaign, thereby sticking the country with Bill Clinton.

Btw, what kind of "courage" does it demonstrate to refrain from defending your own son from lies and innuendo?

Sometimes the best thing to do when faced with idiotic accusations is to deflect them.

If I practiced that restraint when you attack me with your lies, I would be probably be better off to follow GHWB's example and not try to defend myself.

Because when I do try to get you to understand the truth about who I am, or even turn your accusations around on you in jest, you use it to further mock me.

There is no point in arguing with nonsense. GHWB knows that from years of experience. I'm learning.

(btw, I agree with you about the '92 campaign. He ran as if he didn't want to win).

You are obviously in a state of deep paranoia.

Though my post had NOTHING at all to do with you and your obvious neuroses -- and EVERYTHING to do with GHB -- you feel compelled to imagine I am your personal bogeyman for some reason.

Seek help. Please.

"Excuse me. For a moment there I thought I was Lee Elia. Please don't tell me you are also a Chicago Cubs fan."

First, thanks for the education. I looked up Lee Elia - quite a story.

But, no, I had the good fortune to be in Atlanta while Hank Aaron was breaking the record and then again while the Braves started winning for the first time and thus being a Braves fan is cemented pretty deeply in me.

No paranoia, F16. It's been a LONG time since I cared what you thought of me.

It's more of a curiosity as to what makes you tic. You know......why you make things up that are really kinda crazy and repeat them so often and then belittle the people you make things up about. It's odd, that's all....

And I don't need any help, but thanks for caring. I'm about as emotionally stable as people get. I'm just fascinated by people who aren't.

At any rate........on the topic. Perhaps GHWB has just learned that there's no point in trying to defend himself, nor his son against complete lunacy.

It has nothing to do with courage. It has to do with self-restraint and the wisdom that comes with age.

Doesn't anyone remember George H. Bush saying something like "I'll tell him what I really think of him" after Clinton trashed his son in the past. Where did that Bush go? What would Barbara say about that POS.

Care to expound on exactly what those so-called charges of "made up things" you attribute to me?

That would be MY "curiosity" about you, and why you would lay claim during a post totally unrelated to such a claim.

Talk about calling a kettle black, but do have at it...

"It has nothing to do with courage. It has to do with self-restraint and the wisdom that comes with age."

Finally -- "on topic"...

So it's your contention that GHB feels there's "no point in trying to defend himself, nor his son against complete lunacy"?

IF GHB believes Clinton is a loon, why then has he NOT ONLY agreed to share a public platform with him, but fawns over the man, telling the world he "likes" Bill Clinton even as Clinton continues to embarrass Dubya?

What "restraint and wisdom" is there in NOT defending the honor of his son?

It's not unrelated, Fighter. The parallel was how I respond to your false charges, relative to how GHWB responds to the false charges of others.

If you seriously can't remember the things you've said to me, perhaps I can jog your memory with the terms 'vulture,' 'joined at the hip with,' and 'puppet' to name but a few. Creating in your mind some devious association that I have with other freepers that is completely and utterly false (and pretty funny, to tell the truth).

It seriously doesn't bother me any more because I consider the source and the utter absurdity of your drumbeat, but it is remarkable to me that even as recently as a week or so ago you were singing the same tune (mixed musical metaphors there). It's very odd to me, and at one level you amuse me because I think you really believe the things you say.

And as I have said before regarding GHWB, he obviously feels no need to defend the honor of his son, when the accuser is a known liar and the charges without merit.

I think I've made my opinion very clear here. If I were GHWB, I would punch xlinton where it hurts real bad. He's a better man than I am, Gunga Din....

...you don't have a clue but once again some of you are out to defame an honorable man...

No, I do have a clue, and although I'm not out to defame anyone, I understand that world politics is a dirty business and in some cases, some things that may be "undesirable" need to be done. There can still be honor in doing the right thing however unseemly it may be, or whatever unfortunate consequences arise from doing the right thing. Perhaps you want to remain unaware of the real world, but you'll need these.

41 did NOT say "I still like him,"

It's all the same.............. Bush 41 is a geek-mena-goon.

Bush 41 is a punk, and he is responsible for most of his son's problems with the media! Get real!

"If you seriously can't remember the things you've said to me, perhaps I can jog your memory with the terms 'vulture,' 'joined at the hip with,' and 'puppet' to name but a few."

I can also "jog you mind" as well about the tripe you've given me, but I find myself amused at your quaint "pleasantries" as well.

"Creating in your mind some devious association that I have with other freepers that is completely and utterly false (and pretty funny, to tell the truth)."

Yeah, it is, ain't it? So instead of hypersensitizing yourself, LAUGH!

"And as I have said before regarding GHWB, he obviously feels no need to defend the honor of his son, when the accuser is a known liar and the charges without merit....

" I think I've made my opinion very clear here. If I were GHWB, I would punch xlinton where it hurts real bad. He's a better man than I am, Gunga Din...."

(I prefer Paul Revere) And MY point:

IF the charges made by Clinton about Dubya are lies and "without merit," it up to his father to defend his honor (with the "likable" man he's been on Tour with) and yes -- either "punch" his lights out, OR refute those lies AND embarrass Bubba.

Imo, GHWB dishonors his son AND himself, AND the Bush name by ignoring lie-after-Clinton-lie.

Just turning your own idiocy on you, F.

You make preposterous accusations based in conspiratorial fantasy, and I ask you about your imaginary friends. (You have them, don't you? I know you do... :)

And don't worry, I laugh at you a lot......
