Thirty-six hours after ex-president Bill Clinton bashed and trashed his son on everything from his handling of the Hurricane Katrina crisis to the Iraq war, former president George H.W. Bush says he still likes Clinton.
Appearing during commercial breaks on ABC's "Monday Night Football," the president's father was asked how he and Clinton managed to get along.
"I like him," Bush 41 said, despite the verbal thrashing Clinton administered to his son on ABC's "This Week" the day before.
Given two more opportunities to comment on his relationship with Clinton, Bush Sr. declined to say a single negative word about his successor.
Mr. Clinton, on the other hand, demonstrated no such graciousness when asked on Sunday about the Bush administration's response to Hurricane Katrina.
"You can't have an emergency plan that works if it only affects middle class people and up," Clinton told ABC's "This Week."
He said the allegedly slow federal response disproportionately affected African Americans and was caused by the Bush tax cuts.
"This is a matter of public policy," Clinton told his former communications director, George Stephanopoulos. "And whether it's race-based or not, if you give your tax cuts to the rich and hope everything works out all right, poverty goes up and it disproportionately affects black and brown people."
I will no longer interfere with your feelings by injecting rational thought into the conversation.
You're no hero. Just spewing silliness.....
Time Magazine in 1992.......they called him a 'wimp'.
Being called a wimp by a leftist rag is a bigger insult than being called a wimp by a Freeper (me) with balls bigger than your head.
In fact, being called a wimp by Time Magazine is like being called a wimp by Andy Warhol.
The Perot factor was a critical element of the defeat of Bush, but looking back, tiny Perot looked and sounded like Paul Bunyon by comparison.
And can you please enlighten me as to what GHWB should have done to get bin Laden and when?
LOL!
So Mr. Stallone..........are you short? Because you seem to have some sort of complex about your masculinity, and I don't really want to know any more about you, OK?
I bet Clinton goes and sez to 41...Hey, Pops I've got to go and trash your son, you know the ol'R's against D's as usual.
Set me up in line for putting exercises!
Are you giving out hall passes on this thread?
Just wondering, because you act and write like the jerk who did in grade school.
I don't shoot a bad game, but if I'm pi$$ed, I'll kick your ass. I used to hustle, then I just used to win (with honesty and giving strokes to handicaps) then I quit betting, for more than drinks.
Clinton is a man I really want to play. Terms: straight play, Bet: I win you tell all, I lose you walk and get a crack at my wife. I'll put this assh#^e in a ball washer on the 9th tee. He'll be so far out of contention he'll be licking his putter and saying over, and over again..."the old billy barrou....Oh, Billy...Oh, Billy". On the golf course, I'll kick is ass, and make him mine. I'm, at least, as good as that.
It makes me sick to play such an honorable game with men like that, and I have done it before. Golf is the last bastion of a gentleman of honor. It is also the fairest game known to man. I could play Jack Nicklaus with my handicap and I might just beat him, but I probably won't (play him, that is). On the other hand, I could chew Bubba up in about 10 holes, in a totally honest game. It would take me 18 to beat him by 2 when he is cheating, which he always does.
Come on Bubba, take ME on, just once....MY WAY!
I was referring to Sr. listening to Colin Powell and not completing the mission in Iraq. OBL was in reference to Sr.'s rapist buddy, Bill Clinton.
Anyone with sense got it, eddie.
Some are excluded from this club, apparently.
Gotcha. Sorry about that.
Clinton should be put in charge of mobile homes.
I could be talking about a guy that carried anvils up Mt. Everest. GWHB's Presidency speaks for itself and it speaks volumes.
I like you, ohioWfan.

Gee, that was well thought out! You could use a little Midol yourself, don't you think?
You had a chance in 92, 96, 2000, and 2004 to vote for A-holes. My guess is you didn't, and now you're PO'd because they don't act like A-holes.
Bush has brought a new tone to Washington, and despite the fact that the loyal opposition hasn't adopted it also, I would note that at the ballot box and in implemented policies, the tactic seems to be working to our coalitions advantage.
While we gleefully calculate that a few more percentage of blacks to our side would render Democrats a minority party for the foreseeable future, the loss of a few percentage of one of the Republican coalition members would do the same to us.
Another thing that irks me on here too, as long as I'm venting:
Graft, corruption, waste, fraud, abuse and cronyism are as old as civilization. It happens in every government and culture on earth. If you think you can abolish it, you're as utopian as the socialists that think a person will work just as hard for the benefit of a stranger as they will for their own family.
The best we can hope for is to minimize it, and use what's left to our advantage.
"you can't stop it, you can only hope to contain it"
As George Herbert Walker Bush if he liked/likes Al Gore.
I once killed a b'ear siz' of a Winnebago with a corncob pipe an' a wad o' doublemint.
