New Mexicos state treasurer and his predecessor were charged Friday with racketeering, accused of steering state business to investment advisers in return for hundreds of thousands of dollars in kickbacks.
Treasurer Robert Vigil and former Treasurer Michael Montoya, both Democrats, allegedly received the kickbacks from three financial advisers who were paid commissions for helping invest public funds, according to an affidavit.

(This needs to be highlighted.)
I think we should check to see if they attended seminars in Louisiana.
Democrats doing this? I find that impossible to believe in these modern times. They are as pure as the yellow snow.
OK, we know they're all crooks of the first order, so why is this coming out now?
Simple: Bill Richardson is looking like serious threat to Billary's ambitions. He must be stopped.
If this fails he takes a short walk in Fort Marcy Park.
Who is the Govenor of this state? He used to be a cabinet officer in the Clinton Admin. Hispanic. Robert Byrd really raked him over the coals back about 5 years ago.
Actually, Richardson has said he has no interest in any Federal office. I'm just hoping it helps NM Republicans win some statewide elections next year, including an upset of Jeff Bingaman.
Hmmmm. Where have I heard that before? A democrat governor up for reelection promising that he has no ambition for federal office? Could it be Bill Clinton in the late 80s? Why yes, I do believe it is!
I'm just hoping it helps NM Republicans win some statewide elections next year,
Agree wholeheartedly
including an upset of Jeff Bingaman.
Since my parents lived in Alburquerque till about 6 years ago and I still have cousins and an aunt there, I'm embarrassed to say I have absolutely not idea who you mean here. But I'll find out...
Note to Bill Richardson:
The cash is stashed behind the Xerox machine at Los Alamos
What was Richardson's cut of the loot? Had to be some since he is part Mexican and reveres Mexican ways and that includes mordidas. (That's graft).
I just love it when crooked politicians get arrested. I got dem' perp walk blues.
Jeff Bingaman is the junior U.S. Senator from New Mexico. He won that office in 1982 after serving a term as state Attorney General. As far as I can tell, he hasn't accomplished much in spite of his seniority.
