I will give Clinton credit as a half-wit. He did recognize a problem and diagnose it. Obviously, raising taxes when the economic chickens are about to come home to roost is the roadmap to an economic catastophe. But at least the he is encouraging the Democrats to offer a plan for a problem. The Republicans have been spending like drunken sailors. Bush's coalition with Teddy Kennedy on No Left Child Behind has wasted billions on a place the federal government has no business being. The prescription drug plan is a black hole for federal money. Homeland security has wasted billions although I doubt if we will hear that from the Democrats or the Republicans. The Republican Congress looks alot like the Democratic Congress of 1994, very complacent with using the public's money to buy their offices, but eventually taxpayers will replace the devil they do know with the devil they don't know. Complacency is not healthy. A plan of action and action might save the day. But the Republicans look like they are bankrupt when it comes to ideas, and simply content to revert to throwing money at problems. Clinton wanting to raise taxes is truly Democratic liberalism. The Republicans are trying to invent liberalism LITE for a country that wants all the programs without paying the piper.

The "pump-head" syndrome is kicking in on old Bill!

Yeah, the Dems would just love for Bush to raise taxes, and then they could use it against him (Republicans) like they did his old man.

Maybe we should have a special tax for the Hollywood, limousine liberals since they're always whining about the tax cuts. It's for the children!

What is the multiplier now days? When I took economics each dollar got spent an average of 10 times a year. That means that if you tax 10 billion dollars to fix Katrina that you will collapse the economy 100 billion dollars. No wonder the economy suffers so much when the demorats are in office.

tax yourself billy... and if those 4 tax cuts hurt so much... return the money oh yeah, make it retroactive on yourself too

Bush is raising taxes. He is raising them for future generations. Bush never cut taxes. He deferred them to future Presidents. The only way you can cut taxes is to cut government. And that ain't happening.

I guess the coke and bimbos have finally taken their toll. Even the most fanatical, idiot liberal understanding that coming out in favor of higher taxes isn't a political winner.

Former President Clinton believes the Democrats should should pounce on and exploit President Bush's refusal to hike taxes to finance Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. "They should continue to oppose it, and they should make it an issue in the 2006 election, and they should make it an issue in the 2008 election,"
said Clinton, interviewed on Sunday on ABC's "This Week."
Yes I agree with Clinton. Democraps should make it an issue to raise taxes! This will help them get control of the Senate and the House and the White House! Higher taxes are the way to get power back! They are the way to make people vote for you everytime! Man that Clinton is a JeanAss! Wonder if his wife is just as smart?

The solution to everything for American socialists is to raise taxes. Of course people like Clinton wont be hurt no matter how high taxes go. He has a rich wife and enough Yin to last several lifetimes.
The only real way to raise the money needed to rebuild the Golf Coast and New Orleans is to CUT taxes. History has taught us that more money flows into government coffers after a tax cut than could be realized by squeezing the taxpayer harder.
We are, after all, facing a comparatively minor cost if we look at history. Americans virtually paid for two world wars, rebuilt Europe twice and Japan once.
We recently gave Mexico $50 billion to bail them out of a peso crises and all we got in return was more illegal aliens and bilingual ballots.
We gave our deadliest enemy, Russia, much more than $50 billion and all we got in return was the Cold war, the Vietnam War, lousy vodka and Mikhail and Raisa Gorbachev.
We could rebuild the entire storm wrecked area several times over with the waste Washington spews out ever year.
Typically Clinton, his suggestion is the last thing we should do.
