Are the Republicans ready for a war ... amongst ourselves? I am.

"To put that $200 billion in perspective, we could give every one of the 500,000 families displaced by Katrina a check for $400,000, and they could each build a beach front home virtually anywhere in America..... You mean they didn't give each one that much??
Where can you buy beach front property for $400,000 anywhere in the country? Never happen!

Are the Republicans ready for a war ... amongst ourselves? I am. If we can get a 5-to-4 majority of conservatives in the Supreme Court or, preferably, a 6-3 majority, I'll be more willing. Right now, the Supreme Court is the vehicle of choice for the advancement of the leftist agenda. It can undo anything conservatives do in any other part of government.

"Government that governs least governs best"
"as government expands Freedom contracts"
These statements are ALWAYS true even if we(GOP) are in power.

" President Bush announced last Thursday that the feds would take a lead role in the reconstruction of New Orleans, he in effect established a new $200 billion federal line of credit."
Only $62 billion has been approved so far. The $200 billion is MSM estimate.
The Feds should be in charge of infrastructure and oversite of all monies spent.
But, $200 billion could be covered by a 10% reduction of federal spending. Could that happen?
I hope so. I see this a a unique opportunity for this area to be put on the "right" track.

All the idiots forget or choose to ignore that fact that government will grow and take all the power it can. Its the reason for the 2nd Amendment.

Right you are. The Republicans once stood for somewhat more limited spending than Dems. It's very debatable whether that is still true.

THE White House is leaking this number.Probably to soften the blow when the "ONLY" ask for 130 billion.

The feds will spend far more than $200 billion by the time we're done. Count on it. I hope Pence will attract enough others to stand up with him.

Im not sure but I think we lost the political war. We were so close to being able to make some changes, but looks like we booted the can down the road and as usual we have no one to blame but our own team leaders.

Ah gee golly gosh and shucks, Stevie how I wish I was as conservative as you are.
Hey jerkface the feds HAVE to pony up the money and besides we're NOT dumping the money in the ocean. We're spending it on ourselves with a big chance that it can put a big hurt on liberalism. Will some portion of it get stolen? Of course, but where in government is there no stealing?

Nope. Social Security and Defense won't be cut, and, in fact, will only get bigger. Most of the rest of the spending is on Medicaid and Medicare, and we're INCREASING spending on that through free drugs. We're lucky if the budget won't grow 10% next year.

Really? In what part of Lake Michigan? IL, MI, WI??Michigan. There's lots of semi-trendy communities that seem to suck in the high-dollar real estate (i.e., pentwater, luddington, on up to traverse), but there's some stretches of hard to reach places along the shore in between the towns.

"To put that $200 billion in perspective, we could give every one of the 500,000 families displaced by Katrina a check for $400,000.."It gets harder and harder for me to convince myself that Republicans are conservative. I quilt lying to myself a long time ago that they still respect the Constitution.
In the days ahead, FreeRepublic and Freepers are going to see a plan that is capable of restoring the Constitution. It is still possible to take our country back and force governments to live within the restraints imposed by the Constitution.
