I think what he means is that when working undercover in a foreign country they have no rights.

Not true. They have the right to support from Challenger tanks and Warrior APCs.

Yes, but you aren't in Iraq, or are you? :>

If I were, I'd be armed even better. ;*)

>>when working undercover in a foreign country they have no rights

Exactly what I meant. Thanks.

Now, this will ignite allegations of death squads and the like.

And they had to be important - the British helped 150 prisoners escape in order to secure these two.

Some way to build respect for law and order.

I wonder if the police station was rougue, the 150 people were innocent locals, didn't even exist, or really number around 20. Because i doubt people were taking the time to do a head count as they ran off, if they did.

"You send commandos in without uniforms and they are basically thugs."

You've got to be effing kidding. You think SAS and our special forces and special operations guys are thugs?

I understand that, but I don't think calling them "thugs" is necessarily appropriate here.

"thugs" are ununiformed armed guys in New Orleans, these guys are in a war zone, I think they should get a pass from name calling from us.

Someone who thinks a bit of cloth is the difference between a professional soldier and a animal doesn't know who or what the SAS is or does, or anyone else in a uniform either.

Sweetie, that's what Rummy said.

Enemy combatants not in uniform have no rights.

Apart from the skin color, how do you differentiate?

They had no uniforms, carrying arms in a war zone, shooting at Iraqi cops......

I am on the side of the Brits and I only hope we have the balls to do the same thing if these buttheads take one of ours.

How about you tell us exactly how you judged and sentanced these two, and know for sure that they fired first, and that the "police" are 100% bona fide police and not Al-Sadr's people in police uniforms.

Why don't you share this information, so we may also pass judgement.

But I think Swarthyguy (who's posts on the WOT I have been reading for 4 years) meant "why would they do this for two thugs"? - meaning the only explanation is that the two guys are very likely SAS.

Well, if he calls these guys thugs, he should be willing to.
By not answering, he tells me what I need to know anyway.

Listen, they had elections and they have their police force
with OUR approval.

Now, plainclothes guys shooting at cops are the guys US soldiers kill as a rule.

But all of a sudden, because it's the cute cuddly Brits, it's ok for them.

Good for the Brits.

I remember going through some police and or military check points in Iraq and we never stopped for them, because we did not know if they were legit. There were many cases of people being stopped at these check points and disappearing or finding their bodies later. I remember going through a military check point set up in the middle of nowhere and all the alarm bells were going off in my mind. I made sure that my weapon was off safe and pointed at the guy I was talking to. He saw it and waved us through. There was no doubt in my mind these were bad guys. I reported it to the US Army at the nearest base and a few hours later when we passed the same check point the Army had all these guys disarmed and cuffed on the side of the road.

There are too many people in and out of the government with their own agendas over there to ever trust them all.

You can bet your sweet a$$ that if America did the same you would be able to hear the screaming from Baghdad to Washington.

I am impressed by your strong faith in the Basra legal system.

Cheers.

>>Osama Bin Laden

Hide in broad daylight.

Hell, who'd look for Osama at the JJFoley's?

Hint: Look for the guy drinking green beer all year round.

All he has to do is answer.

I'm Italian.
I'm from Iraq.
I'm from Iran.
I'm from Pittsburgh.

I don't like that he called these guys thugs. He gave heat so he can take it. No one asked you to join the conversation on this one.
