From #4: Undercover commandos? Sheesh.

What the hell were they reaally doing. Musta been important for the Britishers to rescue a couple of armed thugs by a prison break.

And if they weren't armed thugs, why were they undercover.

Why'd they shoot at Iraqi police.

I guess this could be read two ways. Just the "tone" of the way it was written gets under my skin.

Swarthy is correct....this is not good...if you put yourself in the Iraqis shoes.

Major loss of face on their part....this does not bode well for the Brits in that area of Iraq.

It's not a question of faith.

This is the line we've been touting.

And plainclothes commandoes shooting cops is OK with you.

We've let the Basra system develop.

If we have problems, sending in undercover guys lends credence to those who keep saying there are Death Squads running around over there.

And if Sadr's goons are cops, we've allowed them to become cops.

Just applying the same standard to these guys that we apply to jihadis.

You remain 100% certain that the other guys were bona fide police. How so ?

Is there not a slight possibilty that they were not loyal to the Iraqi government, but were loyal to someone else, and this might be related to the British arrest Al-Sadr's right hand man a few days ago ?

Or were these just gung-ho thugs on a killing spree, as you seem to have already made your mind up.

I wonder if the police station was rougue, the 150 people were innocent locals, didn't even exist, or really number around 20. Because i doubt people were taking the time to do a head count as they ran off, if they did.

Very valid points, well worth repeating !!!

So if Al-Sadr has got people into the police we should just say "oh well, thats a shame" and turn a blind eye ?

Al-Sadr is not a part of the democratic process in Iraq, he isn't why we are there.

No, he doesn't have to. But his silence speaks volumes.

And the beauty of FR is that I can ask the question too.
