Too late for millions of brain damaged American boys. Condemned solely for being a male adolecent.

Soon we will hang all those so-called doctors who prescribed that poison. Lobotomy by prescription brought ot you by your neighborhood psychiatrist/psychologist - the modern version of Witch-Doctors!

I've read that the military does not want recruits who have been on Ritalin.

Is this true? If so, it would explain the push by the NEA for more drugs in school kiddies.

Drugs = Big money... I get the feeling that a lot of parents have lost control of their home. The kids eat sugary foods all day, sit and play with game-boys and watch TV for hours on end and then act up because of this chemical imbalance and lack of exercise. Just put them on the farm, feed them wholesome foods and have them do chores. That would cure a lot of this ADHD.

Before I started home schooling, there were a team of teachers and counselors who would regularly gang up on me trying to get me to pbut my son on drugs. I kept saying, "He is not paying attention because your teachers are boring him, how about you put them on drugs?"

I was so upset how cavalier they were about drugging my child I went to the doctor and told him I would like a prescription of Ritalin for myself. He said, "No way, that stuff is dangerous, why would you want to take THAT? "

When I was growing up, they didn't have Ritalin. My father actually cured our "attention deficit" with a leather belt. He was always able to get our attention. Although he's been gone for a long time, I still love him for it.

And the real alarm is that about 85% of the children who are prescribed this drug are boys. Wow, are we surprised at that reality? There has been a war against boys in the public education for the last 40 years.

So? It makes a teachers job easier to drug the kids. Isn't that what the public schools are all about? The teachers union? Since when have the kids been important?
(Actually, they really do think like this at the NEA)

A young person just out of college told me today that a lot of students at the university that were prescribed ritilan as young children, often become methanphetamine users in college. They are hooked on speed and use it to stay up for days at a time 'studying' for exams.

This article sites Brisith research. Numbers in the US have stayed the same. Only 4% of the population is prescribed any form of ADHD medication. I don't call that a massive number.

As someone who has been on Ritalin (and still on another form of ADHD medication), let's clear up some things.

1) ADHD does not occur in one type of home over others. Poor kids aren't more likely to be diagnosed with it than rich kids.

2) ADHD is diagnosed by a series of assessment tests. There ARE ways of diagnosing it using MRIs and other brain scans, but they're expensive and used mainly in clinical research.

3) Girls are now being included in greater numbers of studies of ADHD. This is a grossly underdiagnosed group who have been ignored for decades based on gender and a difference in symptoms and how they are expressed.

4) ADHD is often seen in families. Genetics is being studied in greater relation to ADHD. Many researchers are starting to study how ADHD and dementia/alzheimer's are related, as well.

5) Unmedicated ADHD children make more hospital and doctor visits than ADHD children on a prescribed medication. This involves more than just a broken arm or injury from hyperactivity.

6) ADHD doesn't just affect children. Adult ADHD is now becoming a greater issue, especially for those who have crappy insurance. Just because you are no longer an adolescent doesn't mean that the problem goes away.

I was raised in a middle class, two parent household with a mother who was a teacher (and the disciplinarian). My dad, brother, and I all have ADHD, (God bless my mom). There is a noticable difference when I don't take the ADHD medication.

So, before you decry all ADHD diagnoses as false, check out some real facts.

ADHD research from real researchers

Just wait until mandatory mental health screening starts.

From what I have seen, the teachers usually are recommending that the kid needs the meds, and the parents fall in line and willingly accept and take the kids to the doctors for the medications. Sick. Children do not need this in most cases.

Moral Absolutes Ping.

I tried to save an article a few days ago on this same topic. It reprehensible to drug up tens of thousands of children in the name of ADHD or whatever acronym they want to use.

There are so many factors, here's a few random ones:

1. Broken familes. Illegitimate children. Fatherless children. Serial "daddies".
2. Children placed in daycare - sometimes as young as a few weeks old.
3. TV watching, often for hours and hours every day. Add computer games and other mass media which actually can change brain chemistry and function.
4. Junk food.
5. Often little outdoor exercise and play.

Add to that the fact that not all children have the same development patterns, the same type of intelligence, or can learn the exact same thing in the same way as every other kid. One thing children do not need is methamphetamine, or any other kind of of psychoactive drug.

Sigh. Very sad. I've also read that prescriptions for anti-depressants are on the rise for children, even toddlers. It truly is a world gone mad.

Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist.

Note: Since we are not chemicals, if we experience emotional problems, it is not errant chemicals which are the cause. Which comes first, the chemical reactions which cause (for instance) biting the lips, furrowed eyebrows, clenching fists and beating heart, or the anger itself? It's pretty obvious which is the cause and which is the result.

The same group that gave us this.

The State Boys Rebellion
http://www.simonsays.com/content/content.cfm?sid=33&pid=422319

It’s interesting that Germany looked to the US for it’s ideas on eugenics.

Excerpt from link:

>>> The State Boys Rebellion is the dramatic and meticulously researched true story of Fred Boyce and a group of boys who never accepted their incarceration at the Fernald State School in Massachusetts and insisted they were normal. In many cases, school officials noted that they were not disabled and did not belong in an institution. But the school depended on their unpaid labor, and so they were kept locked away in wards where many were beaten, raped, forced to fight each other. They were offered no hope for freedom and knew that others had grown old and died within Fernald's walls.

Yet they were denied proper education, routinely abused, and could be subjected to forced surgical sterilization, lobotomy, shock therapy, and psychotropic drugs. <<<

Should you leave your children alone with them?
