With "thousands and thousands" of residents already back in Algiers, the houses on the higher ground, WHERE do they go to purchase groceries? The French Quarter doesn't have grocery stores.
As big as the strike zone is, it wouldn't surprise me. I remember when they were predicting Katrina to stay on a westward course toward Mexico and the Brownsville, TX area, but at the very last moment, it made a sharp right turn.
Toward stupidity? I thought he was already there!! :)
No, I didn't know that. I've lived in Katy since 1976 and didnt even know that the town of Katy existed in 1900.
Wow, I guess we better pay attention to this one!
Eh, I find it amusing. I actually get deeply irritated by the fanatically moderated Wx boards where there's this massive band of Care-Bare civility police wetting their pants in horror every time somebody gets into..HORRORS! an actual argument.
glad I live in dry dusty ole West Texas.
Thank you. Blanco and my Haley Barbour are indeed world's apart!
I was stunned to learn she was the governor. When I first spotted her, she was standing next to Nagin and I asked my husband "who is that woman with the bad haircut and lost look on her face?"
He thought she might be Nagin's secretary.
Boy were we surrpised!
Louisiana is in the cone. Yes, I'm watching it closely. I just mentioned to my oldest (14) that Houston looked to be in the middle of the cone. He says, "Really? That's where all those people went. Are they like bad luck or something?" At this point, personally, I wouldn't rule out another strike immediately to the west of NO.
Umm...nothing like what you describe remotely happened.
Asman is on FOX now discussing who's in charge in NOLA
OH my......... coffee! I'm ok on the other stuff but didn't think about coffee........... oh wait, I do have those tea bag looking individual coffee thingies......... I mean if I was having to boil water on the gas grill, it would be better than nothing!
This clown is a disaster! Nagin makes Katrina look like a brief light rainshower by comparison!
My ex worked at Jimmy Walkers before/after Alicia. That was a sight to behold. Sheared of the curtains at the top and moved a 20 foot (or so) wooden bar through the restaurant.
FYI you fill your bathtub so you can use the water to flush toilets and other general purposes uses. I had a teacher once who move here right before Carla. She filled the tub, then emtied right it after the storm passed. No one had told her what it was for. She found out the hard way.
League City is on the south side of Clear Lake. Take a look at this: http://www.chron.com/content/chronicle/special/05/hurricane/index.html
That's why they call it "weather forecasting".
that would be worse than Katrina for NO, west side of the wall.
True it was farm land but there was a town and there was nothing between it and Galveston except a big swamp. Probably the houses were built of wood.
Tell me that in April during the peak of tornado season! lol
