2006 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations Leave Out Many Rock Acts Again

Cleveland,Ohio (AHN) - The nominees for the Class of 2006 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is filled with a lot of hold overs from previous years and virtually ignores a truckload of artists that many critics are shaking their heads over.
J.Geils Band, John Mellencamp, the Patti Smith Group, Chic, Joe Tex,Miles Davis, Cat Stevens, Blondie, the Paul Butterfield Band, the Dave Clark Five and the Sir Douglas Quintet will all have a chance to make it into the hall of fame located in Cleveland.
This year also marks the eighth chance for Black Sabbath, Lynyd Skynyrd gets their seventh chance,and the Sex Pistols and the Stooges all of which are on try number five.
Missing from the nomination list again this year include bands like Rush, Van Halen, Yes, Genesis, ELO, Joan Jett, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, Heart, Deep Purple, Pat Benatar, and Duran Duran.
Nominees are picked by a 70-member committee of rock 'n' roll historians, journalists and label execs, with ballots then mailed to an international voting body of 700 music industry types for the final decision. The five to seven nominees that receive the most votes will be inducted into the Rock Hall next year.

I've got to agree with most of these... You got a 2 for 1 favorite of mine: Muddy Waters and Johnny Winter. "Hard Again" is a rocking blues album that's an amazing thing to listen to.

What a sham not including Van Halen, Genesis or the Buzzcocks. Van Halen rewrote heavy metal, Buzzcocks rewrote punk, Genesis had Invisible Touch....well maybe just Van Halen and the Buzzcocks then.

Really, the local governments should not be able to rezone agricultural land as long as the land is being used for agriculture. Otherwise, it should be taxed as agricultural land, as you say.
It is possible that you are correct that this was the line in the studio version of the song. I have only heard that version once or twice. However, on the album "Live Full House" Peter Wolf introduces the song by saying "Serve you right to suffer baby. Serve you right. You gonna live alone."

I became a J. Geils Band fan at the age of 16 when Freeze Frame came out. Then I discovered that my brother had listened to them in their earlier years. Soon, I had to find every album I could get my hands on. Soon, I had come to know and love such classic albums as "Live Full House, Live Blow Your Face Out, etc. Classic songs such as "Wait, House Party, Stoop Down #39, Detroit Breakdown, Give it to Me" and obscure songs like "Chimes" were played over and over on my cassette player. I even bought the album "Concealed Weapons," which was cut by the remaining members of the band after Wolf left, and I really enjoyed Peter Wolf's first solo album, which came out about the time Springsteen's "Born in the USA" was released.
You may be on to something there!

I always wondered why Edgar got all the accolades from the entertainment press over his brother. They were both greats and equally great together when they performed together...
I went to a Sunday night concert, many years ago, with headliners Vanilla Fudge and Ultimate Spinach. The promo posters said "Ultimate Spinach and Vanilla Fudge Sunday" :)
My guess would be the tatoos. While an albino musician is something "different," an albino covered in tatoos is a bit creepy.

Eddie Van Halen completly changed the direction of rock guitar guitar playing ..They should be in there for sure .
